Chapter 1
Maya’s POV
It was raining heavily. Cold drops of rain fell from the sky and touched my skin. A shiver swept through my body as freezing winds kept coming. My boots had holes in them from walking tirelessly long. My clothes the same and weren’t helping with keeping my fragile body warm.
I still couldn’t figure out why my father had decided to kick me out. After all I was still 15 years old and yet here I was. Out in the rain and away from home. I didn’t even know where I was. All I saw was a sign that said (finwood). Wait. Finwood was a village 5 miles away from where I lived. Had I really walked that far? I wondered If It was even humanly possible for a young delicate girl like me.
Just then a car came speeding on the road and swept past me splashing the water on my face. I was already shivering and trembling. I would have to look for shelter for now. As I started walking again the memory of the day before entered into my head. (Flashback) My dad (Albert Lawson) was yelling at me for skipping school. I tried to explain the reason for skipping was that I had a high fever. But he wouldn’t listen to me and grounded me for two weeks!
