Chapter 1

Breathe just breathe.

Raelyn thought to herself as she stood in front of the bathroom sink. You can do this just stay calm. She continued. Raelyn opened her eyes and stared at herself in the mirror. She had long brown hair with the most eye catching green eyes. She wore a simple grey hoodie with jeans and a pair of black boots that went just past her ankles.

Raelyn was as some would put it…. Normal. She wasn't popular but she wasn't a complete outcast either. She fit right in the middle and that's where she liked it. Life was simple because of that. Suddenly a bell rang and screams were heard from outside the bathroom. Raelyn turned to the door. Not again she thought as she ran outside.

Other students ran pushing past her in an attempt to get away from something. But Raelyn didn't. She looked in the direction where the students came from and pushed past them as best she could.

Finally, Raelyn reached them. "Elian?" She said in surprise as she watched her friend on her knees crying. "Stay back," said Elian. "I can't control it" she added. "Elian…" Raelyn said again taking a step forward. "I SAID STAY BACK!" Elian yelled holding up her hand and shooting what looked like lightning in Raelyns direction.

Raelyn took a step back, unsure of how to help her. Raelyn took in a deep breath and walked to Elian who continued to cry. Raelyn knelt down to Elian and put her hand on her shoulder. "Breathe," Raelyn told her in a whisper. "I'm a monster!" Elian cried as Raelyn felt a slight zap forcing her to take her hand off of Elian. "No, you're not," Raelyn told her. "You just can't control it yet," Raelyn said. "For now you need to calm down," she told her. "They're already on their way if you can't at least stop it they'll take you away," Raelyn said to her. "So just breathe," she said one more time. Elian took in a deep breath.

Suddenly Raelyn heard what sounded like a group running and before she knew it they were surrounded by men with guns. "Put your hands up and don't move," a man said. "She hasn't hurt anyone," Raelyn said putting her hands up. "Detain the unwanted," said the man, and suddenly a color was put around Elian's neck. "Elian!" Raelyn said jumping up as they grabbed the 2 girls. "Let me go!" Raelyn said as she struggled to get out of the soldier's grasp.

"This is the 3rd time we've gone through this with you Raelyn Montgomery," a man said walking over to her. He was tall with black hair and brown eyes. "And this is the third time I was able to calm them before they hurt anyone" she added with a hint of attitude.

The man let out a sigh "Let her go" he commanded and the one holding her did as he said. "Listen kid I have nothing against you, but doing this is dangerous, their dangerous," he told her. "Their just scared," she told him. "And that's why they're dangerous Raelyn," he told her. "What we're doing we're doing not just to protect them but to protect everyone," he told her. "Your locking them up" she replied. "Only until they learn to control their powers," he told her. "They can't learn to control them if they wear those colors all the time" she retorted.

The man let out another sigh. "I'm sorry Raelyn but this is the last chance I'm giving you out of respect for your brother if you get in our way again I'm gonna have to bring you with me and take you to your brother," he told her.

"Do you really think I'm scared of him?" She asked. "Of course not but I know you listen to him," he told her. "What would you do if I became an unwanted?" She asked him. "What?" He asked. "What would you do if I became an unwanted?" She asked again. "In this day and age it can happen to anyone," she told him. "As long as you don't lose control…" he hesitated. "You'll be safe," he told her. "Commander it's time to go" a man yelled. "Be right there" the man yelled back. "Don't get in our way again Raelyn" he told her. "Whatever Jake," she said before turning and walking away.

Raelyn continued to walk leaving the school entirely. On days when students or teachers found their powers and became unwanted for everyone's safety, it became an automatic half day. But Raelyn didn't think that plan would be able to continue for much longer. More and more people were becoming Unwanted. It wouldn't be long before even the task force couldn't keep up with them anymore.

Suddenly raelyn began to hear voices in her head. "Uh," she said putting her hand to her forehead. "Not again," she said as the voices began to flood her mind. Breathe just breathe. She thought to herself as she took in slow deep breaths.

"Stop please stop" she whispered to herself as the voices grew louder and louder. "Hey, are you ok?" A man asked with concern. "Get away!" she snapped and suddenly the man was thrown a few feet back. "I'm sorry," she said "I didn't mean to," she said. "It's an unwanted!" someone said. Raelyn looked around at the people who stared at her in contempt. She couldn't stay here.

Rawlyn took off running and ran 3 blocks before stopping and sitting in the middle of an alley. She knew it wouldn't be long before the task force found her. She just didn't want to be near people when they did.

"Raelyn" a familiar voice called out from the front of the alley. "How did I know you had something to do with this?" Jake asked. He was still in his suit, still on duty. "I don't know what your talking about" she told him.

"The man is fine, just so you know?" He told her as he slowly walked closer to her. "not even a scratch," he told her. She said nothing as she leaned her head back on the wall of a building.

"Stay away from me, jake" she told him. "You didn't lose control raelyn so I don't need to" he told her. She turned her head to look at him. "Stay away from me" she told him again as a tear fell down her cheek.

"I just want to help you, like you helped all those other people" he told her as He kneeled down to the ground still a few feet away from her. Jake brought a Syringe out from behind him. "Let me help you" he told her. It had only been a short time since he saw her at the school yet she looked completely exhausted.

Suddenly the syringe went flying out of jakes hand. "I don't need your help I can control it I've been controlling it" she told him. "Is this why you've been so hell bent on helping the awakened Unwanted lately isn't it?" He asked her. Raelyn didn't answer.

"How long ago did you awaken?" He asked her. "That's the thing" she said. "I didn't just awaken" she told him. "I've always been like this" she added.

Bloodlines

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...

BlackKat07: Loved the characters and plot. Unfortunately after about chapter 10 the book really needs a good proof-read - lots of spelling and grammatical errors that spoiled it for me.
