Chapter 1

It’s been two months, 10 days since I last saw Keiran and a month since I last saw my period.

I rubbed my temples as I sat in the doctor’s office while waiting for him to stop reading the paper and tell me what my diagnosis was.

“Miss Aurora,” he called out and looked up with a smile. “You are 2 weeks pregnant.”

I looked at him in disbelief and shook my head. “I think we should take the test again. There is no way I can be pregnant.”

“Why? You have been sexually active, right?” He asked.

I nodded shyly, and I responded. “I had an IUD implanted.”

“Congratulations on your little miracle.” He smiled and wrote some supplements for me to buy and asked me to get enough rest.

I picked up the paper and wobbled home. My entire world came crashing down.

I was excited about the baby but also devastated that my baby might never get to see its dad or know him.

I picked up my phone and looked at all the messages I had sent to him these past two months, but it hadn’t been delivered.

I started to type, but I decided against it. It was of no use if he cared for me. He would have reached out to me.

I called Luna, my best friend, and told her to meet me at my place after work.

“I got something to share,” I said to her over the phone while walking home.

“Okay, I’m listening.” She replied, but I told her she would have to wait to find out.

She sighs and cuts the call. For the next few seconds, my phone was buzzing with messages.

You shouldn’t have said that when you knew you weren’t going to say anything! Now, my anxiety is over the roof.

I’m going to keep thinking about this until the end of my shift!

I smiled and put my phone in my bag. I ordered a ride and waited for it to arrive.

I was feeling dizzy already. It was extremely windy today, and I had this bad feeling suddenly wash over me, but I shrugged it over.

I got in and gave the driver directions to my house.

He was supposed to take a U-turn but instead drove straight past the corner.

I told him he missed it, but he increased his speed.

My heart rate increased, and I placed my hand on my belly.

“Stop the car right now, or I will scream!” I yelled at him and attempted to steer the steering wheel in the other direction.

I would rather die than get kidnapped in broad daylight.

“You can scream, but no one will hear you. The windows are soundproof.”

I was still struggling with him as he tried to focus on the road, but I bit him on his ear.

He screamed and hit me with the butt of his gun. I held my head, the pain was intense, and I felt blood stream down my face, and everything went blank instantly.

“Push, push.” The nurse says while I struggled to catch my breath and mustered all my courage to give one final push.

I heard the sound of my baby crying and tears streamed down my face. The nurse placed her on my chest.

Keiran held my hand and kissed my forehead. “You did good sweetheart, our angel is so beautiful.” He whispered and stroked her rosy cheeks.

I started to smile, but someone started to shake me.

The shaking grew more violent, and then I woke up.

“Emma, why did you cut my beautiful dream short?” I snapped before gasping in horror after taking in my surroundings.

I was surrounded by strange men. The short one looked at me and he had this wicked grin across his face.

“You still don’t know your situation right? I think we need to wipe that smile off your face.” He stated before looking at the other four men standing across the room.

“Is it a crime to have a dream? I can’t control nature.” I snapped back at him.

I tried to get up but I was met with the clanking sounds of chains. I was chained to the hospital bed.

“Why am I chained? I’m not a criminal neither did I offend any of you.”

“Someone kidnapped me yesterday and when I finally get out of here, I’m calling the police.”

“Police,” he mimicked my voice and they all started laughing.

“Remove the chains,” he signalled to a tall, brown man who came and gently tried to free me.

I tried to bolt away from him, but he was fast. “Stay put ma’am, I don’t want to hurt you.” He said.

His accent wasn’t one to miss.“You are Indian right?” I asked, but instead of a response. He grabbed me gently and led me out of the room.

“Why are you here?” I whispered. “You look so gentle, you don’t belong with them. Please let me go, I promise...”

“You better stop that trash you are saying, I’m not here to help you.” He shoved me inside the bathroom and asked me to clean.

“I would be at the far end of the room.” He half-screamed.

“Get yourself clean and enter the room next to the bathroom after you are done. You’d find some clothes set out for you.”

I turned on the tap and splashed water on my face. Slowly raising my head, I looked at the mirror and couldn’t believe my reflection.

The wound from the gun would leave a scar on my forehead. I had bags under my eyes, and my hair was so dishevelled.

I looked around and saw a window on the right-hand side of the bathroom.

I climbed the bathtub and tried to reach out for the window.

Seeing that I could touch the latch, I quietly tiptoed and locked the bathroom door.

I walked back and opened the window, and a wall was staring back at me.

The window has been sealed off.

Bastards, I cursed under my breath before undressing and having my bath. I wrapped myself in a towel and opened the door. I stepped out and bumped into someone.

I screamed and almost fell, but he grabbed my hand.

“What took you so long?” The Indian guy asked, looking at me with a blank expression.

“Do you think we have all the time in the world?” He looked angry.

“I thought you would be standing at the end of the hallway. Why are you here?”

“I know what you tried to do but others before you couldn’t escape. Do as you are told, or you will face dire consequences.” He whispered in my ears and released his grip.

“Now hurry up! The auction starts in 40 minutes, and if I have to drag you out naked, I will.”

I gulped and moved into the room. I shut the door behind me, and a horrid smell greeted my nostrils. I looked around the room, and my eyes landed on something or would I say someone, and I felt my stomach churn.
