Chapter 1
Narae was in a good mood, as she unboxed the little package that came in ealier that evening. She had been anticipating all day for it to arrive.
Even the workers in her Villa had seemed to notice that she was in a very good mood as she had even gotten out of her bed and worn something beside her baggy joggers and tank top.
It was the first time in her three years of marriage that she had been expecting and anticipating a steamy hot night with her husband .
They had a rocky relationship till his parents had asked him to work on an acquisitions project. They wanted to take over an IT company because the owner had no successor and wanted to sell it to enjoy his retirement.
The owner was skeptical about giving his company out to an hungry business man, so many people were lined up to get the company because of its value so he decided to test everyone bidding for the company
Knowing Narae was a skilled Tech girl, her husband reached out to her when the owner of the company was only willing to sell the company if the new owners were going to solve the problems they were facing.
Narae with her skills, managed to solve the project and her husband was very pleased with her.
Seeing how their relationship got better while they were working together and it was their anniversary that night she decided to use that opportunity to spice things up.
Her personal maid had been informed that he was going to visit her Villa, things were working in her favour.
She asked her chef to prepare his favorite meal while she dressed up in lingerie that came in earlier in the day and a see through robe like she had read in a book.
When the night came, she dismissed everyone and waited for him downstairs. Narae was so nervous, it was her first time sleeping with him and she intended to seduce him like she does in her fantasies.
“Would it be to his liking? Would he judge for this? He seemed like he should be open enough for this.” Thoughts of that filled her mind while she was waiting for him.
She felt a light tap on her knee, “hey, wake up!” Lucas said in a cold tone.
Narae opened her eyes, she was surprised that she had fallen asleep, then she looked at the wall clock, it was way past midnight.
She remembered that she was waiting all night for him. “Ah the food would have gone cold.” She thought to herself as she didn’t ask the Chef to keep in the warmer.
Narae had asked them to set the table since it was close to the time that he said he would arrive, knowing his nature of keeping to time, she didn’t expect that he would show up that late.
“Why did you sleep here all night? Do you want the staff to report to my parents that I’m mistreating you!” He said in a cold tone that scared her.
She thought their relationship had gotten better over time and things were alright between them because of the number of times they spent together while she was working overnight.
She got to know a little more about him, her perfect husband even shared a late night snack with her. A habit of hers which he used to loathe. He used to nag her maid for letting her access to late night snacks.
Looking into his eyes, she realized that the cold gaze was back. It made her feel empty inside, like they were back to being complete strangers who shag each other to fulfill their marital duties and never speak to each other..
Narae hated that she felt that way and her mood changed instantly.
She picked on her fingers and spoke softly, “I must have dozed off while I was waiting for you.”
“Did I ask you to wait up for me? Since when did we have that kind of relationship?”
“Ah, I’m sorry, your men must have misunderstood the message you asked them to pass to Vivian.” She replied with fear in her voice. “You must be hungry, seeing that you haven’t changed into your night clothes, let me heat up food, Chef John made for you.” She almost made her way to the kitchen but he pulled her back.
“Can you stop doing things I don’t ask you?” He yelled, causing her to shudder in fright.
“I didn’t ask you to stay up and wait for me or even ask anyone to cook for me, so why bother?”
“Because I’m your wife. It is only my duty to do this”
She wondered what made him so angry, they had brought news to her that the acquisition went well and she had expected that he would bring some wine, then they would seal the moment with some steamy activities.
But he was rather angry at her. She wanted to know why.
“You don’t need to act like this for me. Because I’m no longer your husband. I want a divorce!”
“What!” She shrieked. Narae was used to him being cold to her but never did she expect that he was going or mention a divorce to her.
“Why do you want a divorce? I have lived by your rules since we got married and did what you asked.”
They had been good, at least that’s what she thought till now that he mentioned the divorce.
“I don’t want to spend the rest of my life stuck with a woman I don’t love.” He dropped the papers on the table and he left her Villa.
Cold air brushed her skin as she sat on the floor, it was the middle of summer, everywhere was hot even at this time of the day but she was freezing.
The man she had constantly put in her mind, he made her happier than she had ever been in her whole life within the period of one month thinks she’s just a woman he’s stuck with.
