Prologue
I looked outside, saw the scenery that changed with the strong wind The sound of music in the car sounded soft, a song that was already familiar to the ears because the one playing was the same person, and he liked to listen to the same song over and over again. I lowered my head, feeling tiredness that had accumulated for several days and had just fallen asleep a few hours ago. The driver sitting next to me glanced slightly before asking.
"Sleeping late last night again?"
"Uh-huh."
"It's been like this and you're still working?"
"Uh-huh."
"Don't sleep first, tell me the direction first."
"Later turn right at the front intersection, you've arrived. That big condominium." I answered briefly before falling asleep on the tub that was packed with stuff. However, just a few minutes of sleep, someone gently shook my arm. I opened my eyes with difficulty.
"It's arrived, Daotok."
"Okay." I lowered my feet from the high car, looking at the items that filled the car's sin. Those are all my own stuff. Today is the day I moved to a new condominium. Because I had to move a lot of things, I had to
ask for help from my three friends. There are only them.
"Wow, so luxurious." North, a student majoring in Electrical Engineering who is a big car driver and the owner of the same song playlist, looked up at the condominium I had just rented last week.
"You're really a rich person, huh."
"No. They give a big discount for this room."
"Really? How much is the discount?"
"Well... almost seventy percent."
"Seriously, so many. What promotion is there?" Typhoon, who is called Mew because of his cat-like face and learning photography, said. It seems that I am the only one who still calls him Mew until now.
"Like a free ghost addition." North replied, making Easter, the prospective veterinarian, pat his shoulder softly.
"That's your mouth, huh!!"
"Eh, you don't suspect at all? That much discount, just a little more you can stay for free."
"No." | answered calmly as usual. "And I don't care either. Let's lift the things."
I started to bring the things that filled the car to my new room. I lifted the box containing the goods and entered the elevator that was already waiting for by the others. After pressing the floor number, we waited for the elevator to move slowly to the seventh floor. I walked towards my bedroom door. I have seen it once when the condominium owner asked me to take a look. Actually, just because of the deal to give a big discount, I could hardly refuse. The discount is valid if I agree to a contract to stay for one year. I stuck the key card to the door of room 702 and opened the door.
This room is the second room from the end of the hallway. The room on the left at the end of the hallway has a window and is a little more spacious. Actually a bit envious, because I also want to have my own window. But, the room on the left already has residents.
The room on the right is empty. The room opposite is empty. The room on the right side is also empty.
In short, on the entire seventh floor, there were no residents at all.
Except for room 701 which is on the left side, and I just moved. You can already guess why, right?
As soon as l opened the door and grabbed the light switch next to it, I stepped in, put my stuff in the middle of the room, then turned around and saw that my three friends were just standing with stiff faces in front of the door without following in.
"What's wrong?"
"Uh, it's okay. It's just... it feels a bit strange," said Mew with a stiff smile, while glancing at North with an anxious face. They all finally entered the room and put down the things. "Yes, sorry, Dao, but we, eh..."
"I can lift it myself, no problem."
"No, it's not that I don't want to help, but, uh..." Mew furrowed his eyebrows while looking at North whose face was getting pale. "North, what's wrong with you?"
"There is... what's wrong?!"
"Why is your voice so loud?"
"Damn, my hands are cold, get goosebumps too. Why? This feeling is so bad, weird."
"Uh-huh, this room makes me feel bad," added Ter. I didn't answer because I already understood, then walked open the curtain, thinking that fresh air might make me feel better.
"It's nothing, I promise."
".."
"This room is iust too lone to be uninhabited."
"Uh-huh, let's continue to lift the goods," said Mew. We went down again and started transporting the goods one by one, going back and forth between the car and the room until finally all the goods were successfully moved. It feels like everyone has forgotten about the bad feeling at the beginning when entering the room because of fatigue.
They sat panting.
"You have so many things," North complained while lying on the bed that even I myself have never slept on.
"By the way, North," I said, "is that your car?"
"No. I told Phi Jo that I would help a friend move but didn't have a vehicle. The next day, Phi Joe gave the keys to this car." Phi Joe or Phi Johan that we are talking about is North's girlfriend.
"Oh," I nodded slightly. "Thank you, I want to help. Sorry for the trouble, you must be tired."
"It's okay. To be honest, this is the first time you've asked for something from us," Ter said with a big smile. "I'm glad to be able to help."
"Have you asked me yet? Ouch!"
"You are also sincere to help, North."
"Yes, sincere, but if you can eat together a little it's good. Ouch, why did you hit me again?" North looked at Ter with an annoyed face.
"I'm excited about you."
"Don't bite me, dog face."
"You are the dog."
"Don't fight," Mew reprimanded. "By the way, Dao, is this floor so quiet, or is it just my feeling?"
"Uh-huh, indeed, this floor is only occupied by me and the next room."
"Damn, why? Is the rent very expensive?" North furrowed his eyebrows, even though he was clearly scared to death, it can be seen from the way he grabbed Ter's arm and his panicked face.
"Just like this, how about we go to the cafe downstairs?" Suddenly interrupted, maybe wanting to avoid the atmosphere that started to feel strange. Not the atmosphere between us, but the atmosphere in the room.
"Okay," everyone agreed and we went to the cafe under the condominium to relax.
"Tell me, tell me!" North started to push after we got out of the room.
North is indeed afraid of ghosts, but also likes to hear and watch things related to ghosts. Because he was afraid, he didn't ask, but now after being outside, he started asking.
"Uh-huh, my room has a history of many people dying. There are rumors that this is a cursed room." I started telling me about the history I found about my new room. Everyone listened carefully. "Initially about five years ago, there was a fourth grade medical student who committed suicide. He jumped from the balcony, probably because of the stress of college and problems with his girlfriend."
"..."
"After that, two years later, or three years ago, a working woman was killed by her boyfriend in the bathroom. The reason is because they had a fight when they were drunk, his girlfriend choked him right on the bathtub."
"... Damn, there have been two victims,"
"North, don't cut it yet."
"Sorry, sorry."
"Recently, a few months ago, there was a political science student who was stabbed by his girlfriend while sleeping. Maybe he died without realizing it."
"A few months ago?" Ter raised his eyebrows, his eyes widened in shock shock. "Oh yes, yes, remember, the news was very talked about on campus."
"Oh, I remember too," said North while nodding quickly. "So scary. But his girlfriend is already in jail, right?"
"Yes, already arrested."
"So, have three people died in that room?" Mew asked anxiously.
"Wow, Dao, this is not safe. How can you want to live here, even though you know the history?"
"Because I know that," | smiled slightly while sipping the iced capucino in my hand. "All residents on the seventh floor have moved out. He said, they can't stand it because they are often disturbed."
"So, the resident next to your room must be very strong, can live alone," said North. I nodded in agreement. "You live here because it's cheap, right? Not afraid?"
"No. Even though they gave me such a cheap price, they still made a profit. They want me to stay for a year so that the bad rumors about this condominium can disappear."
"Oh, I mean, if someone lives here and it's okay, will the rumor stop?" asked Ter. I nodded in response. "Yes, I understand. I also understand that you are not afraid. But... damn, from the beginning I opened the door I already felt bad. Are you sure you can live here? Try to think again."
"Can. I'm sure."
"Ouch, I would have died if I were you, seriously," said North while rubbing his goosebumps. "If it's already haunted, please ask for the lottery number if you find it, okay."
"Can, if they want to give."
"Wow, you are not only not afraid of ghosts, but also kind. Perfect to be a fortune teller," | smiled slightly hearing North's comment.
"Is it related?"
"Eh, try to guess me, can you, today?"
"Can," | nodded slightly before reaching into my bag and taking out my tarot card. I have to bring fortune telling tools every day, because North often suddenly asks for free fortune telling at any time.
I'm not a false fortune teller or a liar. My grandmother taught all this.
My grandmother is very good at this kind of thing.
I asked North to choose a card according to the steps for today's prediction.
"Hmm... lately, maybe there will be a little change in your life, North."
"HUH?"
"Small changes, means something that can change you, but not to change your life completely. Don't know if it's good or bad, but it will have a big impact."
"... Don't know good or bad? Can't you tell me if it's good or not?"
"Yes, I really don't know. Just prepare yourself, it will happen soon."
"I'm getting stressed," North rubbed his forehead. "Try you guys too.
Ter, you see too."
"Okay, okay, try to read yours," said Ter. I also started to tell fortunes Ter.
"Your life is so smooth. Everything is fine. Congratulations, Ter," I smiled happily because the result of Ter's prediction was very good.
"Mew, do you want to try?"
"No."
"You always avoid, Phoon."
"Well, if the result is like you, I can be stressed," Mew replied while dodging. "Dao, can you tell fortunes for yourself?" Mew's question made me shake my head softly as an answer.
"What a pity. If I could tell my own fortune, I would have done it every day," North said in a disappointed tone while grabbing Ter's chocolate drink, which immediately made him hit again. Both of them do like to joke like that. "You can talk to ghosts, right?"
"?"
"Can you talk to ghosts?"
"Why do you ask, why do we have to talk to ghosts?" | asked back.
"You know, you said you had that ability."
"Indeed yes... but why try to talk to them? There's nothing interesting about that talk."
"Yes, too. Who the hell wants to talk to ghosts?" Ter asked with a curious tone. "But why do you think ghosts can give lottery numbers?
Even when you're still alive, you don't necessarily win."
"What you said makes sense too," North began to rub his chin. "That's right, why?"
"Never mind, don't think about it. It is also thought that it will be useless," Mew said. "Eh, it's already four o'clock. Time is so fast."
"That's right. When will your boyfriend finish college?" I asked, because my friends' boyfriends all know each other. So, they have a partner who is all in the same gang, and all of them study medicine.
"Four o'clock too."
"Then, you can go home now," I smiled. "I will treat you to coffee as a thank you for helping me lift the goods."
"You know, where is the promise of the roast pork?" North asked.
"You imitate Ter, huh," I teased, making Ter look shocked.
"Dao can't possibly say that to me, right? Dao is very good," Ter turned to Mew, and Mew just shook his head softly. I don't know or he doesn't want to get involved.
"Groasted pork later, okay?"
"Okay," they all stood together. I walked to the cashier to pay. While waiting for change, I heard North shouting from outside.
"Phi Thit!"
"..."
North called someone who was walking past the cafe. The person who was called turned his head with a slightly annoyed expression. The tall dark-skinned figure was wearing a student uniform, but it didn't look very neat.
Phi Thit...?
Oh.
Oh... that's Phi Arthit, a friend of their boyfriends. The person who at that time took the food that Mew brought, even though Mew intended to give the food to Phi Tonfah as a way to attract his attention. That was the first time Mew tried, but the first impression was just ruined.
"You know, what are you doing here?"
"Helping friends move. If Phi, stay here?"
"Yes."
"Seriously? Where does Phi live?"
"701, why?"
701?
That’s the room on my left.
