Prologue : The Man Running

poured heavily over the dimly lit streets of the bustling city. Dev sprinted through the alley, his heart pounding not just from exertion but from sheer terror. The world around him was a blur—a mix of neon signs and looming shadows. Someone was following him. He knew it, though his drug-addled mind couldn’t focus on who or why.

Turning a sharp corner, his foot slipped on the wet pavement, sending him crashing into trash bins. Gasping, he scrambled to his feet, but the sound of footsteps echoed closer. The figure behind him seemed to vanish into the shadows whenever he turned to look.

Before he could take another step, a pair of glaring headlights blinded him. The screech of tires and the sharp impact of a car sent him sprawling onto the cold asphalt. As consciousness faded, the last thing he heard was a stern voice. "We’ve got a junkie here. Get him in the car."
