Summary

Time never had a beginning. It is one of the few truths that have remained intact and, although no one knows the origin of time, life has become precarious, fleeting. The Great Conquest, so called by those who still had the chance to kiss the arid earth, had been hard and had swept away the only known certainties. Some say that humanity was condemned to look at its own end, as if it had chosen to take the first step towards darkness. Others, however, tell of how this War was never won, but simply forgotten, to cleanse the mind of guilt. The Earth has remained an abandoned stage, where the living walk among the shadows of the dead and the dead have never been just empty bodies. The "zombies" did not arrive with dissonant screams or empty eyes. They were not monsters to be killed, but simple travelers from another world, who came to understand what the living struggled to understand: humanity. Yet, when the Earth finally stopped shaking, it realized that the real nightmare was not seeing these creatures walking arm in arm, but something deeper. And now, after centuries of silence, these beings are ready to learn how humans are made. This is only the beginning of an infinite time, of a pierced soul and of an end not yet written. ⎯⎯⎯ Inside you will find all the necessary information. Enjoy the reading! The Soul's bite - features

Main concepts to understand this story

POV

This book will feature different POVs; therefore, each chapter will be written in the first person—except for the opening section, which serves as a general introduction, and the “acts,” which are interlude chapters that expand on the overall story.

I chose this structure mainly to delve deeper into the characters’ inner worlds and psychological aspects, allowing readers to experience their thoughts and emotions firsthand. Since this is a psychological novel that focuses heavily on inner life, I felt this approach would be the most effective.

GENRE

As mentioned earlier, this book falls under the psychological genre. Some parts may feel heavy or particularly intense, and for that reason I’ll try to balance them with lighter, ironic moments—little breaks meant to ease the weight of the story (or maybe I’ll be the only one laughing… very likely).

Later on, the thriller element will come into play, as it often complements the psychological side. Some themes may be disturbing, such as cannibalism or experiments on the human body—both alive and dead. Because of this, the overall atmosphere will lean toward dark and unsettling.

Lastly, this book will definitely include fantasy aspects, since the main character is not human but a creature of my own creation. For now, I’ll have to call their species “Zombies,” though they are quite different from what the word suggests.

(Trust me—don’t give up on me yet.)

SPECIFIC FEATURES

The story is set in a time period far beyond our own, but it is not the typical post-apocalyptic scenario.

This world is one in which the so-called “enemies” or “invaders” have already won, and the surviving humans can currently do very little.

Depending on the POV, you’ll see how the protagonist, Nox—our non-human creature—uses a unique system to measure time, years, and hours based on their species’ domination. Nox also uses unusual words to describe certain human objects, but I’ll make sure they remain understandable. If not, I’ll add a note.

In the first act, I’ll explain how the situation developed and how we reached the present.

As the story progresses, I may add more informational points to this chapter whenever something needs clarification. (If you need to return here, I’ll let you know.)

I hope this story can captivate you—and that you’ll enjoy it.
