Summary

Eilidh Philip is strong-willed and doesn’t take anyone’s crap. Fiercely independent, she’s learned to stand her ground, but beneath her tough exterior, she’s still searching for who she really is. Growing up without her dad has left a quiet ache, leaving her feeling a bit lost and unsure of herself, even as she pushes forward with defiance. The boy who sits next to her in almost every class has been the Bain of her existence ever since she’s known him. James Craig has a major attitude problem and keeps everyone at arms length. He’s secretly has a soft spot for Eilidh but hides it behind hostility and indifference, too guarded to admit his feelings to her and, even to himself. When one day they are forced to work together to get out of a challenging situation, will this lead to the wedge being driven further between them or maybe for their feelings for each other to come to light

Did you miss me?

Eilidh

The bell rings and suddenly break’s over before it even started. I swear i can never get enough time away from school work… and James. I say goodbye to my friends chloe, and jessy, and slowly make my way to my next class, English.

James craig has been a pain in my arse since the first day of highschool, with his stinky attitude and a huge chip on his shoulder to do with me, ever since we met.

“Look who finally decides to show to English” says james, whilst sprawled out in his chair, english jotter open on his desk.

James truly is gorgeous, eyes greener than emerald, chiseled jaw and black hair that sticks up in every direction, shame he couldent be as pretty on the inside too.

“Awh, did you miss me?” I say, as i walk round the desk to take my seat assigned to me by the teacher, which so fortunately had to be beside him.

“ not nearly as much as you’ve missed me, im sure”.

“Oh yeah i’v missed you a bunch” i say sarcastically

I put my head down and work for the rest of the period. The bell rings signaling the end of the school day, i quickly pack my things and leave.

“So, word on the street says that jason is dating again! Like could he have gotten over me any faster? We only broke up 3 weeks ago!” Chloe complains while sitting on my bed, eating her way through a pack of oreos from my snack drawer.

Chloe broke up with jason. Midfielder for the school football team and one of the most popular guy’s in school, along with a group of guys including james .They were together for one and a half years until chloe ended things beacuse he had no respect for my best friend and treated her like shit.

Shuffeling closer to chloe i wrap my arm around her shoulders, letting her lean into me, “chloe, that prick is not even worth thinking about, you can do so much better than him” her face tilted up to look at me, brows furrowed and lips in a sad pout “ i know but i thought i meant something to him, you know?” She said stuffing another oreo in her mouth.

“If that guy had two braincells to rub together he’d understand how much he fucked up by losing you”

A small smile crept onto her face, her eyes brightning sighing, “i love you”

“I love you too, babe”

Looking around my room, i think to myself how lucky i am to be able to have nice things, my room is decent size with laminated floors and a double bed with a big white desk for makeup and school work, along with a hanging basket chair with all my books neatly stacked in their shelves.

My mum worked like a dog to provid for me and her after my dad left, its thanks to her that we dont live in poverty.

Iv always loved reading, its helped me escape from the reality of life when iv needed to. When i was younger and my dad was still around he made my life a living hell, i was never enough for him, he always said he wanted a boy and that i was a mistake. I resented him up until the day he left when i was six.

Ever since that day its just been me and mum and thats the way i like it, me and my mum are best friends, since dad disappeared we’ve looked after each other.

After mum found out the way dad was with me she took it hard, she felt guilty that she didnt see sooner, but i’v never held it against her.
