"That's it.." she said, "Just like that.."

"There's no way she's going to pull this off," Kade said, "She's a woman competing in a man's world."

"She's got what it takes," Barb told him, "Besides, it's a vampire's world, hon. Not a man's world."

"I can't have her on the team."

"Girl is making her own team," Barb reminded him, "Now, shoo..Go show those fangs somewhere else."

Kade frowned and skated off, watching Lila as she presented herself as a wonderful goalie.

"I hate her."

"You hate everyone," Liz said, the hot, young reporter told him as she spoke through the glass, "You can't stand when anyone is better than you."

"You think she's better than me? You need your eyes checked."

"Meet me after practice?"

"Eh, not today. I've got shit to do.."

Kade watched Liz saunter off while he kept another eye on Lila.

"This is..dumb.."

Lila smirked at him, but in her heart she knew she was beneath him.

She knew that even though she was good at being a hockey goalie, she was horrible at pretending she was a high vampire.

"She's from the other side of the tracks," one of Kade's teammates said, "She's...poor as well, nothing like our coven."

Kade wasn't used to that.

He was used to girls who were rich and bouncy, high maintenance and ready to party.

He was also making headlines with that lifestyle.

"Yeah, she's a nobody, but she is good."

"At least you admit it."

"I can't lie about it," Kade chuckled, "But that girlie team she has in mind.."

"Well, there hasn't been a female hockey league in years, bro," Allen said as he walked into the stands, "Maybe they'll make a comeback."

"Maybe.." Kade shook his head, "Maybe you've been having too many blood orgies."

"Fuck off," Allen laughed, "Let me have my fun while you get a boner watching Miss Goalie.."

Kade remembered Liz and decided he didn't want to watch Lila any longer.

He wanted to have some fun.

Unfortunately, the last thing he heard before a tinge of pain coursed through his skull was Lila yelling:

"HEADS UP! PUCK PUCK PUCK!"

"Is he out?"

"Out cold.."

"Great..." Barb shook her head, "Snap out of it, Kade!"

Kade stirred as the healers checked him, but more so, Lila tended to the high vampire.

"What...damn..."

"You got hit by a puck," Lila said, "How does it feel now?"

"I don't.." Kade found himself in Lila's arms and scurried off of her, "The hell are you touching me for?"

"I...I healed you.."

"You're a healer? A cleric?" Kade shook his head, his handsome face not lost on Lila, "Don't touch me."

Lila stood up and stomped over to him, even with the blades on she was still much shorter.

"Watch your mouth, Kade Dyson," she said, "Or I will give you a concussion that will NEVER heal."vampire
