Summary

They say love can move mountains, but I never imagined it could send someone to the demon realm. 徐泽 was tasked with retrieving The Heart of the Forgotten to prove himself worthy of marrying me—a gem shattered long ago to symbolize rejecting power. Now, it was the key to our future, demanding sacrifices none of us were ready to make. 长泽, my guiding light and like a brother to me, was the only one capable of restoring the gem. But doing so meant embracing the demon he once was, risking everything he had fought to leave behind. Despite my desperate pleas, he insisted it was for the good of the family, leaving me helpless as he stepped into the shadows of his past. As 徐泽 journeyed into the perilous demon realm, I was left behind, consumed by guilt and fear. Would he survive? Could I bear the weight of the sacrifices others made for me? The wait was agonizing, and I felt powerless, clinging to the fragile hope that love would endure. When 徐泽 returned with the gem, it was no longer a relic of destruction but a symbol of unity and hope. His journey taught us all that love, sacrifice, and resilience could mend even the deepest fractures in our lives.

At Crossroads

冯夏雨 (Féng Xià Yǔ)

It’s been 8 years since I came to the Immortal Realm. The memory of that day is faint now, like a distant echo of thunder after a summer rain. I was only ten years old, wide-eyed and overwhelmed by the sheer magnificence of this place. The skies stretched endlessly, painted with hues that changed with the mood of the Realm itself. Floating islands, shimmering waterfalls, and crystalline lakes made it feel as though I had stepped into the pages of a storybook.

But the Immortal Realm wasn’t a story; it was my reality. 长泽舅舅 and 如月阿姨 were my guiding stars when I arrived, and over the years, they have become my foundation. They’ve shown me the beauty of this place, its secrets and its dangers, and taught me what it means to belong. Still, as I watch them now, arm in arm, their laughter mingling with the sound of the wind, I can’t help but feel a pang of longing.

Everyone around me seems to have found their path. 如月阿姨 has 泽熙叔叔, their bond as unshakable as the mountains. 长泽舅舅 has 心如姑姑, whose gentle warmth complements his steady strength. And then there’s me, standing at the edge of this great story, wondering where I fit in.

The morning breeze carries the scent of blooming star lilies as I walk along the cliffs near the Azure Pavilion. This has always been my favorite place to think. The pavilion overlooks the Cloud Sea, a vast expanse of mist and light that seems to stretch forever. Today, the sea shimmers with hints of gold and pink, reflecting the dawn.

“Lost in thought again?”

A familiar voice pulls me from my reverie. Turning, I see 长泽 approaching. His dark robes ripple like shadows, but his smile is as warm as sunlight.

“Just enjoying the view,” I reply, though he knows better.

He’s always had a way of seeing through me.

“The view is beautiful,” he agrees, coming to stand beside me.

“But the future is even more so. What’s on your mind, 夏雨?”

I hesitate, unsure how to put my thoughts into words.

Finally, I say, “Do you ever feel like everyone else has their place, and you’re just... waiting?”

长泽’s gaze softens.

“Ah, the feeling of standing at a crossroads. It’s natural, 夏雨. With all your family members married off, it’s natural to feel alone. The path meant for you will find you, and come when you’re ready.”

His words are comforting, but they don’t erase the unease in my heart.

“What if I don’t recognize it when it comes?” I ask, my voice quiet with doubt.

“You will,” he says with quiet certainty.

“Sometimes, it’s not about finding the path, but about becoming ready to walk it.”

I look out toward the horizon, the Cloud Sea still shimmering below. The weight of his words settles in my mind, but I can’t help but feel restless.

“How do I know when I’m ready?” I ask, more to myself than to him.

长泽 doesn’t answer immediately. Instead, he places a hand on my shoulder, his grip firm but reassuring.

“Your heart will tell you,” he says.

“I’ve seen it before—in 如月. She once felt the same way, unsure of her place, unsure of the future. And yet, here we are, walking through it together.”

I glance at him, surprised. I’ve never heard him speak of 如月’s struggles in such a personal way.

“Really?” I ask, my curiosity piqued.

“Yes,” he says, his voice softening with fondness.

“She felt lost too, not knowing where to go or who to turn to. But she found her path—one step at a time. You will, too.”

The breeze picks up, carrying with it the scent of fresh earth and blooming flowers. I close my eyes for a moment, taking it all in. The Immortal Realm is beautiful, but it can also be overwhelming. The expectations, the uncertainty, the pressure to know exactly where my life is headed.

“I don’t know if I’m ready for any of it,” I confess, my voice barely above a whisper.

长泽 smiles at me, the kind of smile that reassures without words.

“You don’t have to be ready right away, 夏雨. Life unfolds in its own time. When the moment comes, you’ll know what to do.”

I nod slowly, though the doubt still lingers. My heart aches with the need for purpose, for direction, and for a sense of belonging that feels just out of reach.

But for now, I take comfort in 长泽’s words. Perhaps he’s right—perhaps I don’t need to have everything figured out today. Maybe the path will reveal itself when I am ready to take the first step.

We stand together in silence, watching as the morning light bathes the world in gold. And in that moment, I feel a small shift within me—a quiet resolve that maybe, just maybe, everything will fall into place.

Later that day, as the sun sinks lower in the sky, casting its golden hues across the Realm, I find myself back at the Azure Pavilion, this time with 如月. We sit in the garden, the air cool and fragrant with the scent of lotus blossoms. The evening sky is alive with stars, and the moon casts its soft light across the landscape, painting everything in silver.

如月’s gentle voice breaks the stillness.

“What did 长泽 say to you earlier?”

I glance at her, surprised. How could she have known?

“Does he know everything?” I ask with a soft laugh.

“Not everything,” she says with a knowing smile.

“But he has a way of seeing what’s in our hearts.”

I smile, feeling a sense of connection to both of them, even though I still feel uncertain about my place in the world.

“He said I’ll find my path when I’m ready,” I confess, my voice tinged with doubt.

“But what if I don’t know what that path is?”

如月’s gaze softens, and she places a hand on mine, her touch warm and reassuring.

“Trust in yourself, 夏雨,” she says.

“You’ve grown so much since the day you arrived here. You’ve learned so much, and now it’s time for you to find your way. It’s okay to feel lost, but don’t let that stop you from moving forward.”

Her words are gentle, but they hold an undeniable strength. I feel a surge of hope, as if, for the first time in a long while, the weight of uncertainty isn’t so heavy.

“You’re not alone, you know,” she continues, her smile tender.

“None of us are. You have us—your family—and the Realm itself to guide you.”

I nod, the weight in my chest easing just a little. I still don’t have all the answers, but somehow, in this moment, I feel less afraid of the unknown.

We sit in companionable silence, the stars above us growing brighter as the night deepens. The gentle sound of the wind carries the distant hum of the Realm, and I realize that, maybe, this is enough. For now, at least. I don’t need to have everything figured out today. I can let the future unfold at its own pace.

And maybe, just maybe, when the time is right, I’ll step onto the path that has been waiting for me all along.

The next few days pass in a blur of activity. The seasons are changing, and with them, the Realm seems to shift its moods. The winds grow colder, and the trees begin to shed their leaves in preparation for the coming winter. As much as I’ve tried to embrace the present, I can’t shake the feeling that something important is on the horizon.

One evening, while walking through the crystal forest, I hear a rustling behind me. I turn, only to find a figure stepping from the shadows.

It’s him.

The young man I saw at the banquet, standing by the fountain. His eyes meet mine, and I feel that same strange pull from before. He steps closer, his presence calming yet intense.

“I didn’t expect to find you here,” he says, his voice soft but filled with an unspoken understanding.

“I—” I begin, but the words get caught in my throat.

There’s something about him that makes everything feel more alive, more real.

“I’ve been looking for you,” he says, his gaze steady.

“I think we might be able to help each other find our paths.”

In that moment, I realize that maybe, just maybe, the path has been waiting for me all along. And as I look into his eyes, I feel that quiet resolve from earlier solidify into something deeper—a sense of purpose, and a hope for the future.

The path may not always be clear, but perhaps that’s okay. Because sometimes, the journey is just as important as the destination.

And maybe, just maybe, the journey is about finding the right people to walk it with.
