Pace stays the same.

"The pace is great for the start of a book, but it never seems to change. So, the longer the book went on the more boring it got. Went from reading every word to skipping through to dialog. Not a bad story, just a slow one that never gets faster. I can't say I'd recommend it, but I wouldn't say it's a bad read if someone asked."
