Synopsis

Layla crops

Layla Crops has spent her entire life navigating challenges and defying expectations. Born into a broken family, she overcame her faults, becoming a star athlete, valedictorian, and eventually a national baseball player when many like her struggled. But her streak was cut short as a series of miscarriages, and a life-altering car accident, and the loss of her father left Layla struggling with chronic pain, addiction, and emotional isolation.

Just as she began to find her footing, a man who brought light back into her life had lost his, and his battle with terminal cancer had left her facing heartbreak once again. Now, six months pregnant—a miracle she never expected—and working as a neurosurgeon at Saint Christine Hospital, Layla has given up on life. But with the unwanted help of a younger colleague who understands what it means to face hardship and the ability to not get over them, Layla begins to comfort in her past, find her strength, and embrace the possibility of love and the idea of hope.

Luis Shepherd

Luis Shepherd grew up under the weight of relentless ambition and abuse. A musical prodigy raised by his stern grandmother, Luis dazzled audiences with his piano, violin, and ballet performances while enduring a childhood marked by harsh discipline and emotional scars. By his teens, he was a national sensation, but behind the spotlight lay a fractured soul struggling with depression, self-harm, and familial disappointment.

Despite his pain, Luis excelled academically, graduating as valedictorian and pursuing his dream of becoming a doctor. Yet his personal life was a series of betrayals, secret relationships, and a growing dependence on medication to numb the past. Now, as a resident at Saint Christine Hospital and battling drug withdrawal, Luis faces the greatest challenge yet: finding redemption and healing in a life built on resilience, talent, and the drive to overcome.

Forced to collaborate on a high-stakes neurological committee, two rivals must save a congress member's life—uncovering hidden depths and undeniable chemistry along the way.
