Chapter 1

Red

I sat in the car glancing down at my makeup covered hands, whenever I went out with Levi for his work parties I had to cover up my tattoos. I had asked him why once before and his reply was “My boss hates women with ink and I want to make a great impression.” To be honest, I don’t know why I haven’t told him to fuck off yet. Maybe I don’t want to be lonely anymore... maybe I want what my friends have... a guy who treats them like a queen.

I shouldn’t matter what anyone thought of me but all my life I had been trying to impress people, even my parents... for years they looked down at me. I was a rebel child growing up while my father was a police officer and my mother was a lawyer. They were barely home, putting their work before their family which is why they got a divorce. I spent most of my time with Moxxie, Zelda, Gypsy and Logan. Moxxie’s family became my family as they were there when I needed someone the most.

The whole car ride home was quiet and there was tension in the air, Levi pulled up outside my apartment complex. I looked at him with a confused look “I have a meeting in the morning” he tells me.

“Will I see you later?” I asked him.

“I’ll text you,” he told me, I sighed and climbed out of the car before he took off. I guess I should be used to the cold shoulder treatment by now. I had been seeing Levi for about a year now but he has yet to meet my friends... I don’t know why he won’t meet them, he just keeps making excuses like my boss is keeping me late. I’m tired tonight baby. I’m sorry baby this case is drowning me.

Who knew a relationship could be one-sided.

Once I was inside my apartment I closed my door, locking it before I threw my keys and my little bag on the coffee table. I walked into my bathroom and turned on the hot water, stripping down before I got in. The signs were right there, first, it was the excuses and now we barely kiss or spend time with each other. Was it me? Was I not a good enough girlfriend? Was I tattooed too much? Was I not skinny enough? The list of things went on and on.

Since Gypsy’s wedding, I had barely hung out with the girls. That was 4-5 months ago but with keeping busy with work and seeing Levi I hadn’t had time to hang out. I know that’s no excuse to make since they were my family the moment I met them but I wanted to see where the relationship would go with Levi and now I knew where it was going.

When I had problems I would normally go to Moxxie’s place with a bottle of wine or two and tell her about it but she was still in Maine for another few more months before she could transfer back.

I shut the water off and climbed out of the shower, wrapping a towel around my body before I walked to the bedroom but I heard someone banging on my front door. When I checked the peephole, I sighed before I opened the door. Holding the towel close to my chest I saw Corba standing there “What do you want?” I asked him.

“Great way to greet someone who misses ya,” he says before kissing my cheek and walking past me inside, I rolled my eyes and closed the door after him.

“Mhmm” I hummed “what’s going on? I thought you were hanging with Charlie?” I asked him, he took a seat while I quickly changed into shorts and a shirt before I came back out. I grabbed two beers from the fridge, handing one to him before I took a seat on the couch.

“Yeah that’s over” he sighed, throwing his arm over the back of the couch, taking a sip of the beer. “Didn’t like how I spent so much time with the club”

“But they are your family,”

“Yeah try telling her that,” he mumbles, picking off the label from the battle. Corba had been seeing one of the nurses at work, they only been going out for 6 months but every time I brought in a patient and she sees me, she rambles on about how cute he was whenever Corba came in with Whiskey. When I looked at him, I did find him cute. I found him extremely handsome with his black jeans, his white shirt with his leather kutte and you couldn’t forget about his tattoos.

I had a dream once about Corba and ever since I had found him attractive. Let’s just say the dream was not PG...

“Didn’t you have that dinner thing with that boyfriend of yours?” He asked, it was my turn to take a sip of my beer but I didn’t take a sip. I drank the whole thing before I placed the empty bottle on the coffee table.

“Yep.”

“Went bad?”

“Yeah, I guess you could say that his boss was just staring and then Levi and I had a fight about it,” I said as I stood up and went to the kitchen to grab a few more beers.

“Did you tell him that it made you feel uncomfortable?”

“Of course I did, that is what started the whole fight” I handed him a beer before I took a seat on the couch. “Maybe I should have kept my mouth shut,” I shrugged my shoulders while I took a sip of my new beer.

“You know that isn’t right. Why do you put up with it?” Corba asked me as he looked over at me.

“I don’t know... maybe I just don’t want to be alone... you all have somebody” I shook my head “Don’t worry about it...” sighing as I leaned my head back against the couch.

“You’re not alone Red.” I snort at him, shaking my head.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
