A boy is given morbid powers that ultimately decide the fate of those around him, though the guilt of not being able to properly handle the powers begins to eat away at him.
Sticky, red liquid ran down his face, staining his tawny strands into a colour he wasn't sure he'd ever get out and clumping it into damp chunks. His mouth was hanging open in devastation and disturbance but as he felt a warm wetness seeping into it, leaving a tangy, copper taste behind, he forced himself to shut it with a clenched jaw.
