Shadows of Obsession

SCENE ONE (1) :

Amber, a businesswoman dealing in architecture, is approached by Sam, Aden's assistant (and brother), to renovate the CEO’s office. She arrives, and Sam gives her the task. At that moment, Aden enters the room, dressed in a formal suit. When he sees Amber, also dressed formally, he is momentarily taken aback, surprised by her beauty and professionalism. He turns to Sam and asks, "Who is she?" Sam explains, and Amber immediately takes charge, outlining how the renovation should be done—but with an air of attitude and authority.

A phone call interrupts Sam, and he steps out. Amber, still in the room with Aden, says, "If this were my office, I’d renovate it the way I wanted, but it’s yours." Aden responds, "Consider it your own then..." Their eyes lock, a moment of tension before Sam returns, bringing design options for the renovation.

SCENE TWO (2) :

Amber is working when she receives a call from her father (Henry), informing her that her mother (Liza), who has been a bit unwell, needs her attention. Amber pauses for a moment, her mind torn between her professional commitments and the need to be there for her mother. She has never been one to let personal matters interfere with work, but this is different. She turns to Aden and asks, "If you don’t mind, would it be alright if I do this task tomorrow? There’s a personal issue I need to take care of."

Aden responds somewhat rudely, "Okay..."

Amber leaves, and Aden watches her from his window. After 10-15 minutes, she’s still unable to find a cab. Stepping outside, Aden offers her a ride. Amber refuses, saying with a smirk, "I’m a woman. That doesn’t mean I’m weak. I can arrange it myself."

Aden’s voice is calm, but there’s a dangerous edge to it. "You're a woman, that’s why I’m not helping. No, you're mine for now. That’s why I’m helping." The words hang in the air, heavy with meaning. Amber's eyes narrow, a spark of defiance flaring up in her chest. "Mine?" she repeats, her voice laced with disbelief and challenge.

Aden doesn’t miss a beat. "I mean, for now, you're working for me. The sooner you resolve your issue, the sooner my work gets done."

Amber sighs, her resolve firm but the chemistry between them undeniable. "Well, that’s true," she mutters, walking to his car.

As they drive to the hospital, Amber’s thoughts drift to her mother, her heart heavy with concern. At the hospital, her mother’s check-up reveals a slight fever, but Amber maintains her composure, pushing aside her worry.

When it’s time to pay the bill, Aden offers, "Let me help you."

Amber raises an eyebrow, her pride shimmering through her words. "Firstly, I don’t take favors from strangers. And for the record," she gestures to her Louboutin heels, "I’m not poor." Aden, taken aback by her sharpness, laughs lightly, but there’s a flicker of something in his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, I get it now." Amber doesn’t break eye contact as she pays the bill herself, silently asserting her independence. She sends her parents home in their own car, her composure unchanged.

As they drive back to the office, Amber feels the weight of the day, but she knows that the next task awaits—and so does Aden.
