Chapter 1
"ISS reporting. Nothing major about and around the earth to report. Asteroids passing us by. The sun is looking damn hot. Light clouds are over America. Sadly, clear skies over Russia," the space captain, Dr Barnes, radios
"This is not a space movie. You can speak normally," the voice at the home base says back
"Humour me, Lauren. I've been in this sweat and fart box for 3 months. I miss roasted meat. I miss gravity, and I miss grandma," he complains.
"She misses you, too. Humphrey is taking good care of her. He might be the favourite."
"Dang. I can't be replaced that easy," she says.
"Just another 5 months and you can see her. But it is not too bad, though. You have a beautiful view of the earth, moon and the other planets," she points out
"The view is great. It's majestic waking up to it. But after 5 months, it is like a bland nature poster on the wall. I need more action," he says.
"No action is good. It means you're safe, the crew too and most importantly the earth. I love that my job is peaceful. Keep your sci-fi fantasies in your head," Lauren argues
She's right. t's good that the world has not changed; if it did, then we'd be in serious trouble
"How's your research going?" she changes the subject.
"It's going good. Too good it's boring me," he said suspiciously
"Don't start with that again. We have to log off now. I'll check back in a few hours," the voice says.
"Cheers, Lauren. Hopefully, tomorrow is more interesting," the captain says
"No. Don't wish that. See you later, Dr Barn," she says, logging off.
