Chapter 1
This is just a normal school in a normal town with normal people. And this story is about a normal boy with normal friends. They looked at him with smiles on their faces and he the same. But the only difference was that his smile was fake. The only time his smile was true and bright as the sun was when he opened his looker at the end of the day. But the reason for his happiness wasn’t because it was the end of school. It was because of a simple flower that always was there at the end of the school day. He had no idea where it came from or who it was from. All he knew was that it all started the day after he lost his best friend jack. Just a simple human. But for him his friend wasn’t simple. His friend was like an brother and had always been there.
But then one day Jack had to move away with his family and he was all alone. Of course he had other “friends” but the only thing that they didn’t have that Jack had was his trust. So the first day of school without Jack was empty, cold and grey.
That first day of school was longer than any other day. The only colors he could see was in his mind where he kept his memories of Jack that would slowly fade away by time.
But suddenly when that school day was over and he was about to go home he found a flower in his locker. Suddenly he could feel the colors in his heart and the curiosity growing inside him. But disappeared fast when fear hit him fast like a lightning. Only growing stronger and stronger.
He thought someone was trying to be mean to him, trick him into believing that someone actually cared about him. But no one said anything about it. Actually no one did notice that flower he always took out of his locker ever day. No one knew about the flower except one person. The person who put it there. Time passed by and the flower appeared in the locker every day by the end of the school day. So by time he got used to it and it also become the thing that made his day colorful.
Many times he tried to see who put the flower in his locker by hiding near his locker. But no one came with the flower. So one day he put his phone in his locker and let it record under the last lesson. But because of that he came late to class and had to stay som extra more minutes to get lectured by the teacher why it is wrong to come late to class. But his friends said that they would wait for him at the lockers.
When he finally could go from class and came to the locker he got a happily surprise that his friends was actually waiting for him.
While they were playing trying to climb up on the lockers he took out his phone and stop the recording.
As he started watching the video. Fast forwarding until he noticed that the lockers door slowly stared to open. With big eyes he looked at video and saw light becoming brighter as the locker was slowly opened more. Then he saw a hand with a silver ring holding a flower. But then something unexpected happened. The hand didn’t place the flower in his locker. Instead the hand kept it this time. He saw the video getting darker as the hand closed the locker. Then he realized that the flower wasn’t in his locker either.
Suddenly he felt sad and disappointed. The sadness started to make his chest heavy. Vocies started to play from the video. Familiar voices.
Curious as a human can be he kept the video go as the voices got louder. Which was quite close to the end of the video. But what he heard was something he never wanted to hear but always known was true.
He heard the voices of his friends. Or so called friends and their true voices and thoughts about him. He looked at them while their voices danced in the hallway. They heard it too and first they looked surprised at him. But then they gave each other one look before they looked back at him.
They looked at him like they never even talked to him. Like a totally stranger. Or maybe just embarrassed by what they had said. Then they started to walk away and he started to walk backwards closer into the school. He didn’t want to go out. He wanted to be alone where no one could se him. So he ran to the closest classroom that was empty. He ran without thinking to his classroom. When he got inside the room he went to the last place anyone wouldn’t notice him. In the shadows. He sat on the floor only thinking about the hand wearing a silver ring on the pinky holding a flower. But the thoughts of that didn’t help him. Didn’t keep the colors from fading away anymore.
Suddenly the door opened up. The room had started to light up in a warm yellow light by the sunset.
Someone opened the door to the classroom but he didn’t hear any footsteps. In fact he couldn’t almost hear anything because he had shut down his hearing. Like he was in a bubble. Kept himself closed in his mind. The person went straight to him. When that persons shadow came into his eye sight he woke up and the he saw her. He tried to say something. Explain why he was there sitting on the floor alone. But nothing came to his mind.
“Aren’t you going home?” She asked nicely.
“Aren’t you?” Was the only thing that came up in his mind.
“No,” she said. She was looking at a spot beside him. “There is...,” she said but then she paused for some seconds. Like she needed to charge her courage and then her eyes met his. “There is something I need to do properly this time,” she said.
Then she took out her hand that was hidden behind her back. Nervously but smiling she looked at him while reaching her hand to him. Her hand that had a silver ring on the pinky and a flower in her hand. And that made his world more colorful then ever.
