Summary

A distortion of change rippled from the western winds, laying a path of inevitability—supernatural creatures transiting to nothing more than whispers and villains in children’s bedtime stories. Restrictively witches; over the centuries, mortal and supernatural worlds soured to the uncontrollable nature of a witch's power, denouncing them as a danger. James I’s publication of Daemonologie broke the sanctity bestowed by his predecessor, Queen Elizabeth I. The once-powerful Hawthorn witches had been aids to the late queen only to disappear from the ledgers of her court. Samara and Ambrose Hawthorn watched as great witches and healers were caught and executed while others could hide among the ton and shadows. Present witches disguise their magic behind the domestication of magic rather than perform potions, palm readings, and spell casting, resulting in the unpretentious of magic through the generations. To which an understanding that no - true hawthorn magic flourishes through… or at least until their descendant, Cassia Rae, had come of age sounding a once sleeping alarm for witch hunters and people desiring a witches magic for themselves. Scattering to the far reaches of the world alone, a familiarity of awareness to the observant dangers that may lay awake waiting for her to tip the scales in their favor, only to be discovered by an unexpected hunter.

Author Note

Hello Readers,

I am Lucina (luci for short) Lynch. This will be my first work published in this format, and I am very excited to see what that brings.

I find myself a consumer of literature, to the point that I've been left in bookstores and libraries because my friends and family know where I'll be when they're finished with their arons or shopping. I've lived in the South Metro of Minneapolis, MN, my entire life, so when I joke about the weather, bear with me, dear reader.

I am a full-time student at the University of MN, pursuing a B.S. in elementary education and, ultimately, in the future, my master's and K-12 teaching license. I'm also a mom of a three-year-old son, and I love watching the world through his naive and wonderous curiosity.

I hope you enjoy my work.
