Summary

Carmell Ira, a 21-year-old PhD student, is obsessed with otome games. But her life takes an unexpected turn when she's brutally murdered by her boyfriend, Milo. She soon finds herself in the body of a young woman named Merrida, destined for a grand fate in the game's storyline, a game Carmell never got to play. All she knows is that she wants the cold Prince Darrius at any cost, and she has to find a way to get into the game's Forbidden Kingdom, which was conveniently cursed before all of the royal children, apart from Darrius, were born. The glaringly obvious line drawn between nobility and commoners throws Carmell off, and in the first week, she breaks most of the unspoken rules. As she navigates this new world while attending Infini Academy's insane classes, she uncovers a dark secret about the demise of the forbidden kingdom and the rise of the current royal lineage. Carmell will find that she has more in common with the game and its royal families than just parading as the main character to form unbreakable alliances and restore her kingdom. Her destiny goes beyond the kingdoms of Patience, and Darrius will be the one to follow her into the darkness of their fates as soul mates and rulers.

Chapter One - Unbridled Rage

Carmell's pale, thin face twisted into a satisfied smirk, her bright blue eyes shining the reflection of an opening scene introducing one of her new game's love interests. She bit her lip as a tall, pale, black-haired man in his early twenties, adorning a red and gold royal military uniform, turned around with a sly smirk and outstretched his long fingers towards her. She stretched her hand towards the TV screen and softly pressed her fingers against his as she stared into his icy blue eyes.

"Come with me; I have to show you something," Prince Darrius’s voice sent goosebumps across her skin, violently shivering her.

She threw her head back, letting out a loud moan, her short, inky black hair moving with her. The black front door next to her banged open, crashing into the fresh patch up in the wall Carmell had done a few days before. Her head snapped to the left, and she sighed, withering in defeat at another task to add to her to-do list.

“Why do you have to play that shit fucking game!?” Milo roared; his hand grabbed the top of the front door and slammed it closed.

“I’ve only just downloaded it, babe," She waved him off and continued watching the screen.

Milo’s dark brown eyes narrowed on her, and he moved to the sofa behind her, causing her to stiffen as his long, powerful legs wrapped around her front and pulled her back into the bottom of the couch with a harsh thud.

“Haven’t you missed me?” He teased her, moving her shoulder-length black hair out of the way and flicking his tongue across her pale, hot skin.

“Of course I have," She breathed out, her body relaxing into him and accepting his touch.

“Mmmm, good girl," He mumbled against her skin, sucking the special soft spot he found on their third date.

She let out a low, innocent moan, and his jeans tightened in anticipation. His left hand dipped into her vest top and bra, grabbing her perky breast with her nipple in between his fingers. He loved that she wore vest tops, but no one else could see. Easy access for him only. He growled possessively and pulled the straps of her top and bra over her shoulders.

“Babe, I’m exhausted tonight. I have an exam on Rune Stones, and it’s half of my grade. I want to play my game for a bit and study. Please," she begged, turning her head to him, her eyes wide. Milo set his lips into a thin line and unhooked his legs from around her body. She quickly lifted her straps back up, turned around on her knees to lift herself, and planted a sweet kiss on his lips, “Aww, thank you, honey. I’m surprised you listened to me," She teased, tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear.

He could barely contain his rage and pleasure; thoughts of knotting his hands into her jet-black hair, pulling his joggers down, and making her small throat choke on her fucking attitude crawled through his brain. A wicked glint shot through his eyes, and if she could have, Carmell would have paled. She shot up and backwards, but he was faster, grabbing her ankle with one hand and her throat with the other. He squeezed, and she went limp, letting him take her to the floor with her ankle raised high enough for her to look like a puppet swinging across a stage. Milo sneered, dropping her ankle to press his body roughly against hers and using his free hand to gather up her short hair.

He let go of her throat and undid his belt.

“Milo, please. I’m sorry. I won’t-” She began to squeak out desperately, but then the TV went dark and quiet as two blood-red eyes took up the entire 75-inch screen.

“I’ll make you choke on your pretty little attitude!" Darrius murmured, and a deep, penetrating growl descended into her soul.

Milo froze, watching her icy blue eyes stare into the TV screen, shining with a hue of red. She began to wither underneath him and snapped her back up, arching into his erection with a loud, desperate moan he had never heard come from her mouth before. His face twisted into a ferocious scowl, and his hands tightened into her hair until he felt the frail hair breaking under his fingers.

Carmell screamed and began to claw at his hands, thrashing around undeath him like a fish out of water, and he revelled in it, his mouth salivating and dick hardening. He took a hand from her hair and raised it above him. As quick as it rose, it dropped across her face, sending stars shooting through her eyes and the room spinning. He slapped her again, with his other hand fixing her in place on the floor for maximum impact.

He stopped for a second and dropped his hands to the hem of her joggers, letting out a low, approving growl at the ease of access. He cupped his hand around the back and pulled them off in one swift tug.

"No!" Carmell cried, her eyes widening and her body jerking away.

"No?" Milo hissed through gritted teeth, his hand balling into a fist and jabbing her hard in the stomach. The air rushed out of her lungs as her body contorted, and she began to choke. He laid into her again, landing on her left lower rip with a satisfying crack. She coughed, and blood flew out of her mouth and into his face. "No!" He roared, seeing nothing but white-hot rage. He snaked both hands around her throat and squeezed, leaning all of his weight onto her.

"Mi-" Her neck crunched under the weight of his fingers, and her eyes rolled into the back of her head before they came to rest on the TV screen's main menu.

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...
