Summary

Maria, a woman living a double life as an unfaithful wife, prays desperately for forgiveness and begs God to keep her secret hidden from her husband. A mysterious voice responds, offering her protection in exchange for her life in three years, to be taken by drowning. Maria agrees, promising to change her ways, but the assurance of secrecy tempts her back into her reckless lifestyle. As the years pass without incident, Maria grows confident, dismissing the deal as a figment of her imagination. She plans a lavish yacht vacation, only for a sudden, violent storm to remind her of the bargain she made. The storm destroys the yacht, and the voice returns, declaring this moment her reckoning. Maria pleads for mercy, but her empty promises seal her fate. The storm claims Maria’s life, leaving the wreckage as a somber warning. The voice of the sky declares that betrayal and broken promises carry consequences, no matter how long it takes for justice to unfold.

Chapter 1: A Desperate Prayer

Maria knelt at her bedside, her tears soaking the floral-patterned duvet. The room was silent, except for her whispered words, which trembled with desperation. She clasped her hands tightly, pressing them against her forehead as though trying to block out the crushing guilt. Her heart felt like it was being torn in two. For months, she had been living a double life, betraying the trust of the man she had once vowed to love and honor. Mark, her husband, was oblivious to her indiscretions, but Maria’s conscience had begun to unravel her carefully constructed façade.

“God,” she whispered, her voice cracking. “Please forgive me. I’ve made so many mistakes. I beg you, don’t let Mark find out.”

Her sobs filled the room, echoing against the walls. She had prayed before, but this time felt different. There was an urgency, a fear that clung to her like a shadow. For weeks, she had felt the weight of her guilt pressing harder, as if her secret was about to spill into the open.

As she continued to pray, the room seemed to shift. The air grew heavy, and a strange, almost electric energy filled the space. Maria froze, her tears still streaking her cheeks.

Then it happened—a voice, deep and resonant, filled the room. It wasn’t loud, yet it carried an undeniable power that made Maria’s heart skip a beat.

“I will forgive you and protect you from being discovered,” the voice said, its tone steady and calm. “But on one condition.”

Maria gasped, her eyes darting around the empty room. “Who’s there?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

The voice didn’t answer her question. Instead, it continued. “In three years, you will die by drowning. That is the price for your protection.”

The words struck Maria like a thunderclap. Her chest tightened, and her hands began to tremble. “Three years?” she repeated, her voice shaking.

“Yes. Agree, and your secret will remain hidden. Refuse, and the truth will come to light.”

Maria’s mind raced. The thought of Mark discovering her betrayal was unbearable. She couldn’t face the shame, the anger, the heartbreak it would bring. And yet, the idea of agreeing to her own death terrified her.

“Fine,” she said at last, her voice barely audible. “I agree.”

As the words left her lips, the energy in the room dissipated. The voice was gone, and the air felt normal again. Maria sat back on her heels, her tears drying on her cheeks. Relief washed over her, mingling with the lingering fear of what she had just agreed to.

“I’ll change,” she whispered to herself. “I’ll be better. I’ll make this right.”

But deep down, the assurance that her secret was safe planted a dangerous seed in her mind—a seed that would grow and lead her down a path she could never have anticipated.
