Chapter 1

The Blind Girl

In a small town, there lived a young girl who had been blind since birth. She had never seen the blue sky, the green trees, or the faces of the people around her. All she knew was darkness, but she longed to see the world. Her blindness made her feel helpless, and she often resented her fate.

Despite this, she was not alone. A young man deeply loved her. He had been by her side for years, caring for her, guiding her, and making sure she never felt abandoned. He described the world to her, telling her about the colors of the flowers, the beauty of the sunrise, and the expressions on people’s faces. Though she could not see, she could feel his love through his words and actions.

However, the girl was not happy. She despised her blindness and often said, “If only I could see, my life would be perfect.” She envied those who could see the world with their own eyes. She felt trapped in darkness while others enjoyed the beauty of life.

One day, in a moment of frustration, she told her boyfriend, “I would marry you if only I could see.”

The boy remained silent. He did not argue or try to convince her otherwise. He only smiled sadly and continued to care for her as he always had.

Days turned into months, and then something miraculous happened. A hospital called the girl and informed her that a suitable donor had been found. She would finally get the chance to see. Excitement filled her heart, and she could barely contain her joy. Her dream was about to come true.

The surgery was scheduled, and the young man stayed with her every step of the way. He held her hand before she was taken into the operating room and whispered, “Everything will be okay.”

The surgery was successful. When the doctors removed her bandages, she slowly opened her eyes. At first, the bright light made her squint, but then—gradually—she began to see shapes, colors, and people.

Tears streamed down her face. She could see!

For the first time, she saw the doctors, the nurses, and her reflection in a mirror. She touched her face, unable to believe that she was looking at herself. It was a moment of pure happiness.

Eager to see the person who had been with her all these years, she looked around for her boyfriend. Then she saw him.

But something was wrong.

He was blind.

She stared at him in shock. She had never known that he was blind. She had always imagined him as a strong and perfect man, the one who had guided her through life. But now, she saw him standing there with unseeing eyes.

Her joy faded.

He stepped closer, smiling. “Now that you can see, will you marry me?” he asked gently.

The girl hesitated. She looked at his closed eyelids, at the way he held his hands out uncertainly. Suddenly, she felt uncertain. The world was so big, so full of possibilities. She had always thought that seeing would bring her happiness, but now she realized she wanted more.

She wanted someone who could explore the world with her, someone who could walk beside her and see the beauty she had been deprived of for so long.

She shook her head.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered.

His smile faded. He did not argue. He did not try to convince her. He simply nodded and walked away.

Days passed, and the girl tried to enjoy her new life. She looked at everything with wonder—the sky, the trees, the people passing by. But something felt missing. A strange emptiness lingered in her heart.

One morning, she received a letter.

With trembling hands, she opened it. It was from her boyfriend.

It contained only one sentence:

“Take care of my eyes.”

She read the words over and over, her breath catching in her throat. Tears filled her eyes.

Only then did she realize the truth.

He had given her his eyes.

The sight she now had—the gift she had longed for—was because of him. He had loved her so much that he had made the ultimate sacrifice.

She dropped the letter, covering her face as sobs wracked her body. She had been blind before, but now she saw everything more clearly than ever.

But it was too late. He was gone.

And she would never see him again.
