Good story with a couple of fun twists
"To start with I had no idea what the definition of intersex was, I assumed I knew and was later proved wrong. I then looked it up and learned something new, which is always enjoyable. This was a great story, I've reread it a half dozen times so far. I just love the interaction between the MFC and her love interest. The playful interactions are a joy to read, it adds an element of fun in times when I need it. The story progresses pretty well, in the summary it told me who her love interests would be but the second professor was a surprise. I was expecting something else. That in itself was a good twist, I love being surprised in my assumptions as the story moves along. The MFC had a great group of friends who helped her through the book along with at least one mean girl, because these stories always have one. Her attitude though was surprising in the age in which the story was set, by that I mean I was under the impression it was in the period after NIL became a thing...only because a following book listed it as a thing. Since both books have elements of each in it, and the earlier book is referenced in the second...they follow each other in sports seasons. The MFC's family though was a bit off putting. What her father put her through, for no reason other than his religious cult beliefs, was cruel. She lived through it and came out stronger on the other side, but her mother was the weird one. Wouldn't stand up to the dad but still wanted him to be remembered as her dad. IMO this is a case where you go to the funeral just to ensure he actually died. I like to think that the reason Dad didn't like her was hers was bigger than his. The incident with the second professor was surprising, but I liked how the author ended the book and tied off all the threads. It's nice to read what happened to not just the main characters but the secondary level characters too. All in all a good book to while away the day and I heartily recommend it for anyone who enjoys sports stories. "
