Chapter 1 Getting Glam
I’ve always loved going to the rodeo. I’ve gone every year ever since I can remember. The games, and the food, the roar of the crowd, the barrel racing and bronco riding, it’s a wonderful experience but my favorite part is the bull riding. It’s a thrill to wait and see if they will stay on for those 8 seconds.
The way the bulls jump and twist and the way their riders maneuver on the bull with just one hand, it’s amazing. The uncontrollable groan coming from the crowd when a rider gets thrown from the bull.
I’ve gone to a couple rodeos with my friends and they stick out like a sore thumb. Trying to be cute and looking country like while being very exposed and not wearing anything like a country gal would.
As someone who is very introverted it’s a little embarrassing to walk with them because of the stares that our group gets. They don’t mind the stares, they like when the attention is on them but I hate it so I do my very best to blend in.
My best friend Maya asked me if I wanted to go to the western stock show and of course I said yes. Maya and I have grown up together and have definitely done some wild things together but that's why I love her.
Over the years we’ve made some more friends and have become a little group of 4. Maya and I grew up very similarly which is why we love a lot of the same things. Delilah and Naomi grew up a little differently than maya and I did but those differences are what have made our group work.
I met Delilah at Taekwondo. I am an instructor there and formed a friendship with her outside of class and introduced her to maya and the three of us started hanging out a lot.
When we were at a bar one day we saw a girl who was being harassed by this group of guys so we went over to her and said we were so sorry for being late there was traffic on the way. The guys left shortly after we went over and pretended to know her.
Ever since then it’s been the four of us. So when Maya asked me if I wanted to go to the Western stock show I said we should invite Delilah and Naomi since we had taken them to a rodeo before and they loved it, but the stock show would be a whole new world.
Maya and I lived together so we had the girls come over to our place to get ready since we were going to be taking one car. “Are you guys excited?” I asked as we were at the kitchen table doing our makeup.
“Yes! I can’t wait to see all the hot guys” Naomi said with a wink making me chuckle and roll my eyes at her.
“You know we aren’t going for the guys right?” Maya asks while curling her eyelashes.
“We know but you gotta agree that it is a plus” Delilah says with a smirk while doing her hair. We all chuckle at her comment cause she’s not wrong.
“So how do I look?” Naomi says while walking in a circle to give us the full view. She is wearing a bralette covered in silver rhinestones, some dangling off so as she spins they move with her. Her jeans are so ripped they could basically be shorts with how ripped they are, and in the rips are more dangling rhinestones with silver cowboy boots.
“You look sexy” I say because even though it’s something I would never wear she looks good and will draw lots of attention.
“Good, that’s all that matters” She says and grabs her perfume and sprays it on her wrists and behind her ears.
Once we’re all dressed and ready we start to go to the mirror in the bathroom for a selfie. Delilah is wearing a black leather mini skirt and a silver backless shirt, with a black jacket and silver cowboy boots. Maya is wearing dark blue jeans and a cow print tube top with black square toe boots.
I am wearing dark blue ripped jeans with a black bodysuit that has an oval cutout in the chest area accentuating my breasts and dark brown cowboy boots.
Once we have all of our wallets and necessities we head out to my car a white Subaru outback. When we are all in the car we turn the music all the way up and roll the windows down the whole way there.
