NERISSA.

“Did you think I ever liked you?” He scoffed out, his eyes red and bubbling with anger and his feet marching towards me.

“I’ve never liked you, you slut! The only reason I got married to you in the first place was because of what your father could offer me! And now that he’s dead and gone, you have no other use for me.”

I didn’t mind any of his words, or the hurt that was searing and jabbing through my heart. The only thing I minded was his sharpened claws, his enraged eyes and his deadly elongated teeth, shimmering with their desire to kill me.

He was angry, and he was going to beat me, again.

Damon’s anger was nothing to be talked about or laughed about. When he was angry, he could destroy the entire pack without knowing it…all because of his stupid anger.

He growled at me before I could finish my words and rushed at me, gripping my neck very hard. He slammed my back to the wall, the pain cutting through every corner of myself. I clawed my fingers on the wall, my eyes wide open and the bad stench of death approaching.

“I never loved you, nerissa! And before you become something that keeps altering my life decisions and sending the people I love away, I would get rid of you first!”

“Do you know how many stupid words I have to hear from my babies about how you yell at them?”

A bile of disgust rose to my stomach immediately I heard him say that word. ‘His babies.’ The same maids that served us, the same cleaners that took care of the room and sometimes clubhouse whores were the people my own husband, alpha to a pack was calling ‘his babies’.

“Do you know the embarrassment and disgust you bring to me! I can’t even bed a girl properly because of what they think of you! What do you think you are, do you think your father is still here to pamper you! You’re nothing, NERISSA!” He spat on my face.

“You are nothing without me!”

His grip tightened on my neck and that was when the entire fear started sinking more. I knew Damon could be angry, I knew he could hurt me. This was not the first time that he has thrown me against the wall and hit me…but with his eyes now…he..

“Please..Please Damon, I’m your mate. I’m your wife. It’s..” I begged through our mindlink.

“I’m your Luna..” the tears were forming in my eyes at this moment and spilling out already.

“And you would be no more.” He said coldly.

I had thought I was going to die one day from all the hurt and whenever that day comes, I would take it with my full heart, and just die. For five years, my marriage has been hopeless, fruitless and not tangible in anyway.

I, Nerissa Grey, princess of the shadow bone pack now reduced to a mere castaway Luna to Damon’s pack.

“I, Damon Donovan, Alpha of the RedMoon pack, together with the Crescent City pack reject you, Nerissa Grey, as their mate.”

I didn’t even know where the entire pain was coming from. Tears blurred my vision more, my heart tightened against my chest as the hurt rippled all around. The pain of the rejection, with the pain of being beaten together with the physical pain tangled with each other, causing my entire body to be in a great deal of pain without any other emotion.

“And now, I’m going to do you one better by erasing your existence so no other person has to deal with your stupidity! Die, you fool!”

Those were the last words I heard as his claws went sharp through my neck, my eyes widening in disbelief that he actually did it, and my body falling to the floor with a thud after he did it.

I laid there, staring across the room with my vision getting blurrier with either the tears that were there or with death so close to me. The hurt and disappointment of my past life spread across my body. If only I didn’t confront him about it. If only I didn’t raise my voice at him while confronting him.

If only I had kept my foolish mouth quiet and just sat there. I didn’t want to die. I had welcomed the thought of it but I actually did not want to die.

I just wanted a loving husband, to be the Luna for the people that I have grown to love, to have my own kids. To be able to control the maids without them throwing back to my face that I was just a name, and my own alpha, my own husband did not care about me.

I could feel the wetness as a tear slid down, probably the last tear. I was bleeding, the stench of my blood hitting my nose. I could not even hear if my husband who just murdered me was still in the room with me. I could not hear anything again. I could not feel anything again.

And that was it, the end of NERISSA Grey, who only wanted to be loved and loved in return.

Or that was what I thought.

I exhaled a long breath of air as my eyes opened widely, shutting back immediately at the white light that was emanating in front of me. I opened my eyes gently again, my mind whirling with different thoughts at the place I was.

Was this the afterlife? Is the moon goddess coming to get me now?

“No, NERISSA. I’m not coming to get you. Your time is not up yet.” A loud voice boomed in my ear.

I stood up, a chill running down my spine as my eyes fluttered around, trying to figure what was happening.

“You’ve been offered another chance at life, Nerissa Grey. But you have a few hours. Avoid your death, meet with the Alpha king and have him help you.”

“Who are you!” I yelled out.

“Three hours, Nerissa grey. If within three hours, the alpha king does not accept you, then you’ll have to die again..”

The voice stopped, as if taking a long deep breath,

“…and in a crueler way from your husband, Damon Donovan.”

“Who are you!” I yelled out again, my heart racing wildly.

A loud laugh ruptured through the entire room, “Three hours to change your fate, Nerissa. Your time starts now.”
