Chapter 1
The city of New York buzzed with its usual energy. The streets were alive with the hum of traffic and the chatter of the pedestrians. Amidst the chaos, a determined young journalist named Lily Archer sat in her tiny appartement with her fingers flying over the keyboard. She has a reputation for being truthful to what she wrote and today she was about to publish an article which can change her entire career.
Lily had finally gathered enough evidence to expose Victoria Harrington, the richest person in New York for her illegal acts of cybercrime. She is the leader of a vast network of hackers. These cyber criminals under Victoria’s command siphoned huge amounts of money from victims and manipulated markets for her advantage. She knew the risks of publishing such a piece, but the public has to know. Just as she was about to hit the publish button her phone rang. "Hello" she answered despite the anxiety coursing through her veins. A cold menacing voice replied, “Miss Archer, if you publish the article you will live to regret it”. A chill ran through her spine, but she couldn’t show any weakness. She quickly hung up the call.
The next day she disappeared into thin air. Her brother Zach was frantic with worry unable to understand what happened to his sister. Detective Sarah who has a fame for solving even the toughest cases with her partner Olivia were assigned the case. The scene was eerily quiet while Sarah and Olivia are gathering the clues. Zach was already there, pacing back and forth, his face etched with worry.
“Any news?” Zach asked, his voice trembling.
Sarah shook her head. “Not yet, but we’re doing everything we can”.
The appartement was neat and orderly with no clues of struggles “Her laptop and journal are still here”, Olivia said.
Sarah nodded, her mind racing with possibilities. “Zach aren’t you a member of the world cyber security. Do you think you can crack the code of her laptop” she said.
“Let me try” Zach said taking the laptop.
After several minutes he cracked the code and Sarah went through Lily’s laptop searching for clues. She found the article and began reading it. She realized what was going on.
“Looks Lily got herself into big trouble. We need to find her before it is too late” she said her face filled with worry.
