Chapitre 1

Été 1950.

Nous sommes dans une petite bourgade de Bretagne, la sonnerie de l'école de garçons du village retentit, les enfants sortent de l'établissement en courant, jettant leurs cahiers au vent tout en se bousculant.

C'est le dernier jour avant les grandes vacances et comme tout les ans, Monsieur Eugène, instituteur et maire du village a organisé un évènement pour ses jeunes écoliers, cette année ce sera une course de voiliers fabriqués par ces derniers, chose que Jean dit Jeannot, Robert surnommé bouboule et Marianne, leur petite sœur, n'ont pas manqués de réaliser, tout est prêt pour gagner la course du lendemain.

Les deux frères se dirigent vers la maison familiale afin de retrouver la Marianne comme ils l'appellent mais surtout de pouvoir contempler leur navire de guerre, surnom donné par bouboule à ce tas de vieilles planches parsemés de clous rouillés maquillés de peinture trouvé dans l'établi au paternel et un mât fait avec des bouts de ferraille arborant une voile rafistolé d'un ancien drap où Jeannot y a fièrement dessiné une tête de mort.
