Chapter 1: Burgerhouse
¨Hey Douglas we got another order on deck!” An afro dark skinned man with a busy gray beard exclaimed, placing a written note on Doug´s severing window that can be seen through the saloon.
¨You got it boss man!¨ He grabbed a frozen patty from the neatly organized stack of meat next to him and dropped it on the grill. Humming in delight as the sizzling of the meat fat burns away to make a delicious juicy burger.
¨Nothing is better than a good beef patty, to make the day better.¨
¨You can say that again, big bro!¨ He turned and giggled towards his co-worker who gave him a goofy grin as she stuck a bottle of ketchup into a potato, while making pleasurable moaning sounds.
¨Dawg that sick!, Lizzie.¨
¨I know but working in this shithole but else you got to entertain ourselves.¨
¨I hear that, missy! Back to your station, or you´re fired!¨ Their boss said angrily , slamming his fist against the counter while eyeing the teenager who merely rolled her eyes.
¨We´re just joshing around, Ronald! And plus if you did fire me who else will attract these customers with my ass, will you?¨
¨Ugh! I hate teenagers..just work what I pay ya, girl.¨
¨Will do.¨ She gave him a thumbs up then returned to cutting up some veggies into metal containers, for the building of the burgers and salad bar they had in the front. Luckily she didn't have to store any american cheese, so Douglas can melt on the beef patty as it was almost down cooking through.
¨You know it aren't right for you to dish your pops like that, dawg.¨
¨Say the guy who used to lead a group of thugs around Manhattan square said something about robbing other people´s turf.¨ She replied with a smirk.¨And besides I was merely joking.¨
¨Whatever you say. But that behind me now I go a new gang who are much more cooler dudes then them assholes.¨
¨Oh right..about them how come you never thought of bringing them to this burger joint?¨
¨Cuz they don't like to be around too many humans like these people.¨ He answered, pressing a bell while placing a steaming plate of food on the window Screaming ¨Order up!¨ and his boss served the customer waiting in the reasonably sized line.
¨Order up, you're buffalo duplex steak and cheese burger, Mr. Daiz!¨
¨Dio Mios! Can´t you americanos not be so loud ayi ayi¨ He said running his pointy ears then took bite from his green fries coniter, ¨And put some pantalones, I don't want to see your man jewels while I eat.¨
¨My wife thinks otherwise but I can't look at my kid while you eat. So enjoy.¨ He said with a smirk, clenching his big booty cheeks covered with spandex shorts at the man mockily, and as a result made the man groan while Douglas blushed.
¨Wow!..that dude is jack.¨
¨Hey Roberts pay attention to the grill and not other people's butts, you creep.¨
¨Shut up, dawg!¨ She giggled as his face grew more crimson from the comment, trying to hide it as he grilled up a few more burgers, trying to get his mind back to work if it wasn't for his friend ruining it.
¨What I was kidding, man, right?¨ She said with a little concerned in her voice as Douglas sigh,
¨It's cool Lizzie..I-I just don´t want people to know about…you know.¨
¨Of course dude. Dealing with our society's crappy expectations, it's best to keep this a lowbrow, like with me.¨
¨Thanks man, now let's finish up these orders to the fine people of Mc.BeefKing, so cleaning this joint isn't so bad.¨ He declared.
¨Totally!¨
Several hours went by as the big clock on the wall struck a few minutes past nine thirty and the whole grew ever so quiet. No noises that would make an average New Yorker go mad, like roaring crowds of people demanding their lunch orders during lunch hours to get back, to get back to their nine to five job. The sitting area where the customers dine weren't the greatest when keeping a low volume, especially children.
¨Eww..kids are gross!¨ The teen gagged as she wiped up a puddle of puke from a little girl who had a little too much chocolate milk and fries.
¨Hehe I saw worse, babycakes. When you were a little brat you used to piss all over the changing table and wouldn't stop for minutes.¨ Her father laughed as she rolled her eyes with a grin.
¨Alright boss man I clean the shit filled toilets and scrubbed the sinks with the toothbrush you gave me, then bleach that stink hole down.¨
¨Good work Doulgas, I should pay you more than Shinulu there.¨ He joked as Luzzie punched his muscular arm as Doug looked at his watch and nearly swallowed his gums as he was running out of time.
¨Oh crud!..The guys will be here soon. Say boss man mind if you let me lock up the crib?¨
¨Uhhh…sure little man, but don´t mess with anything here, or face the wrath of the mighty SERGEANT RON!¨ He made a mock punch towards the teenagers who laughed at his goofy action, and Ronald hand him the keys as he and Lizzie walk out the restaurant
¨Close up my ass, we just opened.¨ He chuckled deviously as a few minutes after they left the sound of a RV truck pulled up to the front entrance. Presenting their family symbol of peace and honor on the door of the truck, that opened to his gang that came rushing in.
¨Yo fam! What popping, Raphie?¨
¨Hey bro! Nothing much except wondering what you have been doing in this joint.¨ Rapheal said as he and Doug did their usual hand greeting.
¨Wow! I didn't know you had a gumball machine!..Cherry blossoms and orange soda, cool!¨ Mikey said, as he placed a quarter into the machine that made a click sound as a ball rolled into his palm, then placed it on his tongue. ¨Mhmm!..berry flavor.¨
¨Cool bro and why don´t you guys take a seat and I'll whip you guys up some burgers.¨
¨ Sounds beefy!¨ The red masked turtle and his brother took a seat in one of the sitting booths next to the window as they preferred to enjoy the view as they dined. Leonardo was supposed to be sitting on the inside, until he backed off when their lizard friend accidently bumped into him.
¨Oh pardon me Leo!...good job, Kim!¨ She blushed embarrassed but the blue masked turtle chuckled and gestured to her clear entrance.
¨No no no it´s okay Kim. Splinter always said it´s impolite to not let your guest get the first seating, so after you.¨
¨Oh..uhm gracies. Such a gentleman..¿Hace calor aquí?¨
¨I don't remember pops teaching us that, what are you hiding, big brother?¨ Rapheal said with a devious smile.
¨Whatever you say, Rapheal, now we can enjoy our dinner in peace without the teasing.¨
¨So, what burgers do you guys want?¨ Doulgas asked, with a pen and notepad in his hands as his friends looked through their menu, humming in thought.
¨Uhh,..do you have a pizza?¨
¨Of course a burger place of all sorts would sell pizza as a main course.¨ Donatello said sarcastically, sipping his juice box.
¨I can see what I can do, little bro. And the rest?¨
¨Mhmm, this bacon on a cheesy bongus looks tasty.¨ Raph rubbed his chin intrigued at the picture of a big burger with a cheesy beef sauce dripping off the bun.
¨Oooh! Nice pick, Raphie! Try that with the chili cheese fries then you get yourself a deal.¨
¨ I appreciate the small chicken salad and other juice box, Douglas.¨ The purple masked turtle asked as everyone gave him a weird expression on his order.
¨You just want a salad, what's the fun in that, Dee?¨
¨Just because you guys are ordering burgers, doesn't mean I would like it too. And also red meat makes me gassy.¨
¨Fair point, well..I would like the number one with extra drill pickles and tomatoes.¨ Leonado said, as the water monitor next to him was having a hard time picking her order.
¨Ok..ok Kim just picked one meal from the menu…let see ... ..uhh..ohh this chicken burger looks delicioso. What this chicken burger taste like Douglas?¨
¨Oh you want the Mc.Cluckin´. This meal will give you a fine medium rare chicken breast deep fried in peanut oil season with all herbs, spices from heaven and plaster on a warm fluffy bun with the mouth watering chicken sauce…mhm damn!¨ Doulgas hummed in delight, imagining himself devouring it whole like all the other times, but the day dream ended shortly when she heard his friends giggling at him.
¨Ahem!..I mean it´s hella good, lizard queen.¨
¨Can it be grilled instead of fried? Am allergic to peanuts, no bueno.¨ Kim asked politely as Doug write down their order,
¨Cool cool I can fix something up that makes it just as great as the original.¨
¨Muchas gracias, mi amigo.¨ She smiled, handing him the last menu before heading for the kitchen to start cooking.
You allergic to peanuts, Kim? How come you never told us?¨ Leo asked as Kim grabbed her book from her backpack to the page she left off.
“You never asked me.”
