Author's Note and Dedications

Welcome to my story! Before the start, I would like to preface some things for anyone who cares enough to have a bit of context for the kind of story this is.

To start, this is a story about soulmates. What that means is, if you're looking for a slow burn, this is not the book for you. But if you're anything like me, you enjoy seeing depictions of healthy relationships that last. This is not a 'they lived happily ever after' kind of story. This is not about two people getting together. It's about two people staying together. Working through the challenges of life without letting it destroy their relationship.

They will have some kind of feelings toward each other from the very start because that's how my soulmate system works. They will still take their time to get together. But not the whole story.

Secondly, this world is much like ours, taking place in a modern setting, with cars, phones, the internet, etc. However, the people that inhabit it are supernatural, very different from us. Meaning there are dragons who drive to work and get stuck in traffic or werewolves who make Instagram accounts.

The point of this world is to have these big, fantastical creatures who are just like us. They experience love and loss, they go through grief, addiction, pain, and loneliness.

As such, this book is dedicated to those who see themselves in these characters. To those who need a voice. To those who are grieving a loved one or a lost part of themselves. To those who gave too much with nothing to show for it. Especially to those who feel like they have no place. To the lost, the lonely, and the timid. I see you. Never give up hope for a better life. It could be just around the corner, after all.

This book is also dedicated to A. Your support means the world to me. I know things have been difficult for you and I know it’s hard for you to read this, but I’m incredibly grateful you supported me on this journey. You are a shining light for me and my family. Never forget that.

Thank you for reading.
