It appeared she had been cared for well during her time away, leaving the professor to contemplate what events might have unfolded over those four weeks. Professor Ocean picked up the phone and called his assistant’s extension. “Kevin, could you come to my office immediately?” he instructed, maintaining a calm but commanding tone. After hanging up, he returned to the news article, scanning through the details with a renewed sense of focus.
Kevin knocked lightly before entering the office. “You called for me, Sir?” he asked, ready with his notebook and pen.
“Yes, Kevin. I need you to gather all available information regarding the young girl who was reported missing and found yesterday. Additionally, I want you to look into the case of the hikers who vanished two years ago. Can you compile all the relevant details for me?” the professor replied, his eyes locked on Kevin.
Kevin nodded firmly. “Of course, Sir. I’ll have everything you need by the end of the day.” With a quick acknowledgment, he turned and left to begin his research.
Professor Ocean carefully tucked the article away in a drawer, donned his coat, and made his way to his refuge: the laboratory. As he entered this familiar space, he was invigorated by the scents and sights of his beloved work.
