El fin del mundo como lo conocíamos no llegó con una explosión nuclear ni con la caída de meteoritos. No, fue el resultado de un experimento fallido que buscaba alterar la genética humana para adaptarse a las catástrofes naturales que asolaban el planeta. La humanidad, en su afán por sobrevivir, jugó con fuerzas que no comprendía. En lugar de arreglar el desastre ambiental, el experimento despertó poderes dormidos en la mayoría de los humanos y, con ello, desató el caos. El virus genético que alteró el ADN no solo transformó a los individuos, sino también a los ecosistemas y al propio planeta. Hoy, los que quedan viven en una distopía sumida en la mutación genética y la desesperación. Este mundo no es el que alguna vez fue; las ruinas de antiguas civilizaciones se mezclan con la naturaleza distorsionada que ahora domina. La humanidad es más fuerte, más peligrosa, pero también fragmentada y rota.
