Chapter 1 The move
Emmelene never wanted to move back to her childhood home. The house, an aging Victorian relic on the outskirts of town, had been abandoned for years. But after her mother’s passing, it became hers. It was cheaper than renting, and with no close family, she had little choice.
From the moment she set foot inside, the air felt thick, charged with something unseen. The walls whispered memories, the stairs groaned beneath her feet, and the scent of dust and decay clung to the air like an unshakable shadow.
She told herself it was just a house.
