Summary

Hey readers! I’m the writer of this story, and I’m thrilled to share this journey with you. This novel serves as a prequel to my upcoming manga, Rakshak: The Defenders of Dharma. It is a fusion of Indian mythology and modern technology, exploring how the advancements of the present world can become both a blessing and a curse. At the heart of this story is Arjun, an ordinary teenager whose life takes an unexpected turn when he gains mysterious powers during a life-altering event. As he struggles to understand his newfound abilities, he is drawn into an age-old battle between good and evil—one that has shaped the fate of humanity for centuries. Through this novel, you’ll witness Arjun’s transformation from a regular college student to the Rakshak—the protector of Earth—and eventually, the Maha Rakshak, a guardian with a destiny that extends beyond our world. But this journey is not easy. He must face deadly enemies, uncover hidden truths, and embrace the responsibility that comes with his power. This is not just a story of heroism—it is a tale of sacrifice, self-discovery, and the eternal struggle between Dharma (righteousness) and Adharma (chaos). Chapter 1-Ignition

                       Chapter 1

The Age of Technology-

Humanity had reached new heights. The world brimmed with skyscrapers, artificial intelligence, and endless innovation. Yet, with progress came destruction. Wars, greed, and devastation left scars across the Earth—WW1, WW2, Hiroshima, Nagasaki… all whispers of Kali’s touch. These are just global issues, but if we look at ordinary people, we see the true face of Kali. The strong prey on the weak, and the weak, in turn, use technology to spread harm. Humanity is drowning in hatred and agony—this is Kali’s influence.

2025: A City on the Brink-

Arjun was an ordinary boy form a small town of India. Arjun boarded a train to begin his engineering studies in a bustling city- Mumbai. He wasn’t aware of his future.

Yet, from the moment he arrived, something felt… off. A strange man—an old figure wrapped in tattered robes—seemed to appear wherever Arjun went. Always watching. Always silent. Whenever Arjun approached, the man vanished, leaving behind nothing but the faint scent of incense and whispers that prickled his senses.

Months passed, but the unease lingered.

As Arjun and his best friend Raghav walked into the college cafeteria during their  lunch break, the scent of food barely registered. His attention was drawn to a tense commotion near the back. A group of thugs loomed over a girl from his class, their laughter laced with cruelty as they physically harassed her.

The cafeteria was packed, yet no one stepped in. Students averted their gazes, pretending not to see. Some whispered, but none moved.

Something in Arjun twisted. How could everyone just watch?

Without thinking, he stepped forward. “Leave her alone.”

Raghav tried to stop him but he didn't listened to him.

The thugs turned to him, smirking. “And if we don’t?”

Arjun’s fists clenched. He knew he was outnumbered, but he didn’t care. The girl’s eyes pleaded for help, and that was enough.

One of them shoved him. Another threw a punch. A sharp pain shot through his jaw, but he didn’t back down. More blows followed—he could barely keep up.

Then—everything blurred.

His vision swam, his body felt strangely light, yet unbearably hot. The world around him flickered. A presence.

Through the haze, he saw him—the old man. The same one who had been following him for months, standing just a few feet away. Watching.

And then—fire.

Flames erupted around Arjun, wild and untamed. Heat pulsed through the air, crackling with an unseen force. The thugs stumbled back in terror, their cocky grins vanishing in an instant. The girl gasped, shielding herself from the sudden blaze.

The thugs didn’t wait for an explanation—they ran.

The fire flickered, then died just as fast as it had appeared.

Arjun’s breath came in ragged gasps as he turned—but the old man was gone. As if he had never been there at all.

Then, one fateful day, during his class, Arjun sat in his classroom, half-listening to the lecture when a sudden, sharp scream cut through the air. The room fell silent for a moment. Then came another scream, followed by panicked shouts.

Frowning, he turned toward the window—and what he saw made his blood run cold.

A man hovered in mid-air, his tattered robes billowing unnaturally. His eyes burned with fury as he chanted an eerie mantra, his voice carrying across the college grounds. Then, with a flick of his wrist, a pulsating, dark orb materialized in his palm.

" You will all burn for what you did to me… to my family. He saved me then, and now, I will fulfill his will and his dream. You will witness the birth of a god.!"

Before anyone could react, the man hurled the orb downward.

A deafening explosion ripped through the air. The impact sent shockwaves across the campus, obliterating an entire building in a burst of flames and debris.

Arjun barely had time to brace himself before a chemical explosion erupted in the lab. Glass shattered, and a burning sensation spread across his skin as hazardous chemicals splashed onto him. He gasped, coughing through the thick smoke.

Then he heard it—cries for help.

Whipping around, he saw his classmates trapped beneath fallen beams and rubble. Ignoring the searing pain, he lunged forward, lifting debris with trembling hands. His arms burned, his breath came in ragged gulps, but he pushed on, dragging them to safety one by one.

The moment he stumbled out of the ruined building, he saw them—figures cloaked in power, battling the floating man.

They moved like warriors from myths, wielding abilities beyond comprehension. But Arjun had no time to watch. Another scream rang out from inside the collapsing structure.

Someone was still trapped.

Without hesitation, he turned and rushed back in. But the moment he stepped inside—the ceiling gave way.

A massive chunk of debris came crashing down.

And then—darkness..

Pain consumed him. His body was broken, his consciousness fading.

Through the haze, the old man appeared once more, this time stepping out of the shadows. His eyes gleamed like molten gold, and his voice carried an ancient weight.

Old Man: “You have been chosen, Arjun. The time has come for you to awaken. Will you accept this burden, this destiny, to become the protector this world so desperately needs?”

Arjun’s vision blurred, his mind screaming at him to run—to resist. Who was this old man? Why did his voice feel ancient, his presence overwhelming? Every fiber of his being burned, but amidst the agony, a strange calm spread through him. Something deep inside whispered that this was inevitable. Fate. Destiny. He hesitated for only a moment… then reached out and took the old man’s hand.

Old Man (chanting in Sanskrit): “Jaagurt Bhava… jaagrut bhava, Arjuna .”

A blinding light exploded around him, swallowing the ruins, the screams, and the pain. For a moment, there was only silence. Then—whispers. Countless voices, ancient and powerful, echoing from beyond time. And as Arjun felt himself dissolve into the light, a single thought gripped his mind...

Everything was about to change...gi
