Good day passengers, is there a gamer on board

Vincent's Point Of View

At twenty years old I was doing big things and becoming well-known in the videogame realm. In real life, there really wasn't much going on.

I lived on my own, ate spicy chilly flavoured ramen three times a day, got scratched by my neighbor's cat Celine every time I went out to buy new food and games, and always ran into some kind of trouble.

Despite my proud title of a shut-in, I was constantly involved in the crimes around Japan that I became a person of interest all the time.

Once I was in the bank wanting to withdraw money but the bank was being robbed. The robber came close to me then died unexpectedly in my arms leaving his equipment on me so now police and the bank were in consensus that I was involved and left behind to finish the job.

I witnessed the shady transaction of elephant tusks while trying a new route in an alley and surreptitiously grabbed the wrong bag by accident in the subway and it turned out to be a terrorist's bomb. Trouble seemed to follow me wherever I went.

Just like today. The new game of 'Dragon Breath' was coming out and I was ecstatic to be among the first to purchase it. I woke up around dawn to grab the game but on my way back a white van pulled up beside me and I was forced to deliver a suspicious grey briefcase that contained I have no idea what, all the way to America.

It was seven o'clock when I boarded the plane. Deep in thought my gaze wandered to the dancing clouds around us. The plane was filled with anticipating civilians who had gotten in by their own free will which contradicted my situation. The air had a strong stiff smell of nuts and peaches along with the excess use of cleaning detergents. Maybe they put a nut and peach flavoured spray to try and hide the smell of disinfectants. It was hard to tell.

Amidst thought the intercom beeped, a notion that meant an announcement was going to come out. The plane quieted down while the announcer cleared his throat then spoke, sounding terrified for his life.

"Good day passengers, is there a gamer on board?" The question was bizarre and strange to ask when we were over six feet above the ground. No. I must have heard incorrectly. Besides, why would a gamer be necessary in this predicament?

Nobody else moved a muscle. Perhaps they were stunned of disbelief like I was. The announcer repeated the request again proving me wrong in my claim of mishearing him before. Twisting my lips I contemplated the strange request while scanning the plane to see nobody moving again. Just then a slender hand was raised. My brows flew up to my forehead as I followed the hand and realized that it belonged to girl next to me.

She appeared to be the same age as me or perhaps a bit younger with long ashy white hair, pale white skin, and lifeless blue eyes that had a light green shade blended in subtly. Her voice was soft, devoid of emotion, and monotone.

"I am a gamer." The girl said then turned to me unexpectedly. My heart skipped a beat at how mesmerizing her eyes were despite looking dim and dead. I wasn't sure if it was because of the green blended in, but I struggled to avert my gaze away from her.

It was as if her eyes were a magnet that pulled on the likes of me. Trapped, but struck with awe, staring at her was all that I could do. I picked up my jaw then tightened my mouth as I thought on what to say, but before I could process it I managed to blurt out impetuously.

"What's your name?" The girl's eyebrows plunged and I flinched abashed by my asinine tongue. I turned away muttering to myself how much of an idiot I was.

A soft pat on my right shoulder astounded me and when I turned back to the girl who was the one who had done so she smiled then chuckled sweetly. It was like watching a rose bloom under the Sun's gaze. Truly, a beautiful sight to behold.

"You're a gamer too, I assume. Come help me. After all, two heads are better than one right?" She asked. Before I even knew it I agreed to help her. Thus, from there on, from just that decision alone, my life changed forever.
