Prologue:

14 year old Aaron was sitting at a desk in Franklin High School.  The kids were talking all around him. Old friends, he thought, Too bad everybody here hates me for no reason.  Every time he asked these kids why they hated him so much their reply was “I don’t know, you’re just… different.”  Aaron hated feeling left out, but it was the only feeling he had here.

His mother always told him to be happy, but Aaron’s life never really gave him room to be happy.  He was always shoved around and kicked, punched, put in choke holds, if it was harmful people did it.  Aaron’s mother always said he was a gift, while everyone else thought he was a curse.

The bell rang, Aaron looked up from his desk and saw three of the older teens walking towards him.  “Great another beating,” Aaron thought as he closed his eyes.  When he opened them there was a gray scruffy haired boy with green eyes and glasses, a black haired boy with gray eyes, and the blonde haired black eyed girl were in front of him.

“Hey guys umm how are y'all feeling.  Good, bad, in between.  I mean today’s lesson am I right?” He laughed nervously as the two guys walked to either side of him.

The girl spoke, “Why were you trying to talk to me Freak,” she spat at him.  Aaron blinked, thinking “Great it’s gonna be one of these days.”  (Let me introduce you to Jim on Aarons left, Aether on his right, and Taylor in front of him)

“Hey Jim heard you guys won your football game right.. couldn’t you celebrate by not beating someone up, maybe?” Aaron looked at Jim.

“Maybe some other kid gets a break, but you.  Never.”  He spat at Aaron, his accent showing.

“Can you just hit him already!”  Said Taylor, getting impatient.

“I hate cheerleaders the most.”  Aaron thought while sighing.

Jim and Aether grabbed Aaron by the sleeves of his uniform and threw him over the chair.  Pain started to fry his brain as he hit his head.  He then landed on his side.  Aaron looked up and saw the figure of Taylor walking towards him.

Jim kicked him in the stomach.  He rolled onto his stomach holding it.

“Don’t even look at her, scum,” he said growling.  He almost sounded animal-like.  Aaron groaned, while trying to get up.  His vision was just a little blurry at the moment.  Falling back to the ground, he rolled over onto his back trying to release some of the pain.

Aether grabbed the fabric of his shirt and punched Aaron.  Falling back, Aaron hit his head again.  Taylor was standing suddenly over him, she pulled him closer by his hair.

“You better watch yourself around us sparkle wings!  Trust me, you’ll never have friends like us here.”  She spat in his ear.

Someone yelled to Aaron’s right, but it sounded far away.  It was almost like he was watching in third person.  Getting up, Taylor and the rest of them scurried away.  The girl (As far as he could tell) kneeled down next to him.  Aaron’s vision was starting to clear now.

“How did you survive this?!” She said, sounding highly amazed.  His head hurt, Aaron went to sit up, but fell back onto his back again.  Pain rushed from his stomach to his head.

It was starting to get hard to breathe. Sitting next to him, the girl tilted her head.  Aaron groaned, but the girl asked “Do you want me to help you?”

Nodding, pain shook him.  The girl pulled him up to his feet and to be honest pulled Aaron out of the building she didn’t seem to be having fun.

“I gotta get home, my mom’s waiting for me.” Said Aaron blinking, black was darkening his sight.

“What you need is a doctor, I can take you to one.”  She said, her voice extremely calm.

“But my mom,” he said, slipping.  Falling to the ground, he started to breathe hard.  Aaron looked over at the girl from the ground.  She was pretty, her eyes looked at Aaron worriedly.  Has Aaron seen her before?  Aaron pushed back the fuzziness in his brain and thought for a moment.  Yeah, she was the quiet girl everyone was scared of.  Aaron had never even talked to this girl, why’d she help him.

Aaron rolled to his stomach and was able to slightly lift himself off the ground.  He felt something coming up his throat.  Retching, puke came out of his mouth and nose.

Red stained the concrete that was outside of the classroom.  Staring at it, the girl sighed.  The black spots started to spread all over his vision now.

“I guess I have to use—-I collected today,” she mumbled, Aaron missed half of it because more stuff came out of his mouth.  The dark red substance splattered over his jeans.  The girl stepped in front of Aaron and squatted down.

She sighed, speaking   “Listen, I can help you, but you have to agree to not be able to remember this and if you do, never talk about it.”

Aaron blinked, hearing what she was saying, but not registering it.  “Ok” he said, unconsciously.  Not knowing he was dying, Aaron nodded.   She let out an annoyed grown, the girl leaned closer to him.  Pulling him in until she kissed him.
