Chapter 1
Madeleine Souverain is a young girl who lives in a very poor town with her grandmother. Her parents passed away when she was very young, and now her grandmother has grown old. To support her financially, Madeleine decides to work as a maid in the Kingdom of Lorianth—the wealthiest kingdom in the region.
Madeleine Souverain (thinking): (The palace is huge... I hope I can do well here and become financially independent. I miss my grandma, but I hope she’s doing well without me.)
As Madeleine walks toward the palace, she notices a girl nearby.
Luna: "Hey! Who are you looking for?"
Madeleine Souverain: "Hi, I’m Madeleine Souverain. I’m a new maid here. I don’t know anything about this place—can you help me?"
Luna: "Oh, nice to meet you! I heard a new maid was coming. Welcome to Lorianth Palace! I’m also a maid here—my name is Luna,how about you
Madeleine Souverain:My name is Madeleine Souverain, nice to meet you
luna:I hope we can be good friends. Let me introduce you to the other maids."
Madeleine followed Luna, meeting many new people along the way. Luna was a very kind girl who helped her get introduced to everyone.
Luna: "From now on, this will be your room."
The room was old furnished. It was located near the palace and specifically for the maids only.
Luna: "Today, you can rest or take a tour of the palace, you’ll begin your work from tomorrow.
Madeleine Souverain: "Thank you, Luna, for your help. I’ll spend today organizing my things and preparing for tomorrow."
Luna: "Alright, see you later! I have some work to finish, but if you need any help, just call me."
Madeleine Souverain: "Sure!"
As she looked around the room, she thought to herself, This room is really messy. I need to clean up and get things in order.
Later that evening…
Knock, knock!
Luna: "Madeleine, open the door!"
Madeleine quickly got up and opened it.
Madeleine Souverain: "What happened, Luna?"
Luna: "Let’s go have some tea and snacks. It’s been a long day, and we could take some break."
Madeleine Souverain: "That sounds like a great idea. Let’s go!"
The two walked to the palace’s small dining area, where the maids often gathered during their free time. They poured themselves some warm tea and enjoyed a few biscuits and pastries. As they sipped their tea, they shared stories about their lives.
Luna talked about her family and how she had been working in the palace for a while now. She reassured Madeleine that things would get easier with time. Madeleine, in turn, spoke about her grandmother and how she hoped to support her with the money she earned.
Luna: "You’re really strong, Madeleine. I admire your determination."
Madeleine Souverain: "Thank you, Luna. It means a lot. I’m just hoping for the best."
They continued chatting and laughing until they both started feeling sleepy.
Luna: "We should get some rest. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day."
Madeleine Souverain: "You’re right. Let’s head back."
The two friends returned to their rooms, feeling grateful for each other’s company. As Madeleine lay in bed, she felt a sense of comfort—she wasn’t alone in this new place. With that thought, she drifted off to sleep, ready to face whatever tomorrow would bring.
