Attention
“What are you reading?” Lilith asked.
She was so bored. For the last week all Wolf did was reading his book.
Even when Lilith tried to talk to him while they were eating lunch or on the breaks when she felt too bored to do anything else.
It was not like she is against reading books. She herself read books on the breaks too but Wolf was doing it too much. It’s like he doesn’t want any social life.
Lilith doesn’t want any social life too but it would be good if she could talk to someone once in a while in school.
" Japanese myths” Wolf answered simply. Lilith filled her cheeks with breath, looking at Wolf like a chipmunk with cheeks full of nuts.
" Can’t you give me a little attention?” she asked. Wolf turned at her and raised his eyebrows ” No” he said simply.
Lilith tsched and turned her gaze to the other side of the classroom. Wolf is really annoying. And tall. So tall that she would be considered an elementary school kid standing beside him.
She watched as the other students socialize with each other. She should have chosen another loser. Her choice was wrong. But it was too late to change losers as everyone started becoming friends in pairs or groups. She let her head fall on her arm. She wants to complain and whine like a kid because of this annoying situation.
Wolf looked at her slumped down figure and almost rolled his eyes.
He can just talk to her right? He doesn’t have to be friends with her. So she can’t hurt him in the future.
" Why do you want my attention anyway?” he asked. Lilith turned her head to stare at him. She was glad he is finally talking to her but she found it weird that he decided on having a conversation with her after turning down her initial attempt. Is this a new manipulation technique?
" I just want to talk to someone so I wouldn’t end up as a social outcast” she answered. Wolf almost laughed ” We are both social outcasts Lilith, every student in this classroom knows each others’s name and conversed at least once throughout this week but us” he said.
Lilith pouted ” Yeah but at least we can just say we didn’t like the vibe of them and that’s why we ended up only getting to know each other if we at least get closer to each other a little” she said. Wolf gave out a big breath from his nose.
" Okay then what do you want to know about me to get closer to me?” he asked.
" Do you have any siblings?” Lilith asked. Wolf nodded ” I have two little sisters, they are twins” he answered. ” Their names are Orange and Lemon” he continued.
Lilith frowned ” Why is your nickname so different from theirs?” she asked. Wolf shrugged his shoulders ” My mom insisted on nicknaming the opposite gender with my dad so my mom gave me my nickname and my dad gave them theirs” he said.
Lilith laughed at that. ” That’s a funny way to give nicknames to your children” she said. ” I think I would get along with your mom” she chuckled.
" You?” Wolf asked. ” Do you have any siblings?” he continued when he realized his question is not clear enough.
" I have a big brother and a younger one” Lilith answered. ” My big brother’s name is Angel and my younger brother is called Yang” she said. ” How- Your names does not make any sense either” Wolf said.
Lilith gave out a quick breath from her nose as if she is laughing ” My mom named us all, she wanted my older brother to be easy to raise so she called him Angel but he ended up being too naive so she named me after a powerful demon deity so I would be the opposite of him but she ended up regretting it when I ended up being too dark and ‘scary’” she said.
She sighed ” On her last child she just wanted a break and wanted a child that would shine and make her and others happy” she said. ” He was like how she wanted but because of his shine everyone who are attracted to him ended up being as dark as people can be” she finished her sentence with that.
Wolf’s eyebrows arched and his pupils are dilated. He opened his mouth to comment on the story of Lilith and her brothers’s naming story but he stopped when he saw the teacher coming inside the classroom.
They listened to the lecture as always.
Lilith took notes and Wolf copied them since he forgot his glasses at home again. He should tell his mother to buy him contact lenses or he will miss out on a lot of classes at this rate because of his lack of ability to see.
" Okay class this week I will not give you any homework like I did last week” the teacher said.
Everyone cheered including Wolf and Lilith even if they did the cheering inside their brain.
" Let me finish my sentence before getting too excited” the teacher said tsching. ” Because this week your homework will be done in pairs” he said. Which made a lot of them boo him. Wolf looked okay and Lilith smirked on the inside thinking she will break Wolf’s walls down and use him for her social needs easier like this.
" Now don’t be too dispirited” he said. ” It’s not a hard homework, I only want you to choose a short story from our history and make a little presentation about it together” he continued. ” And I want both of you to give a presentation, okay? Not only one of you” he said.
Which made the whole class disappointed again. Not Lilith and Wolf though. Wolf is okay about both giving presentation and being in pairs. Lilith on the other hand thinks this will be a good opportunity for her to get closer to Wolf. So they were both more than okay with this arrangement.

Yang took a big bite from his lunch while Rabbit was telling them a story of a series he watched for the millionth time and Cheshire is watching his new prey eat lunch on a nearby table.
" By the way Yang, why didn’t you go to the same school as your older sister?” Rabbit asked as if he just remembered to ask.
Yang sighed ” It’s because Lilith is a devil and my mom thought I would end up like her if I go to her school” he said.
That wasn’t the truth as the real reason was Lilith’s grades. Lilith, even if she was a troubled kid, had such high grades that the private school gave her a scholarship but Yang was not the brightest among his siblings thus he didn’t even get accepted to the school in the first place.
His mother didn’t want him to feel inferior however so she told him it’s because she does not want him to end up like Lilith.
Rabbit this time diverted his attention towards Cheshire ” Oiy! Che, give us some attention sometimes too, would you?” he asked. Cheshire took his eyes away from Lily finally and turned at them.
" What were you saying?” he asked.
Yang and Rabbit looked at each other before looking back at him ” We were just talking about mundane things” Yang answered. ” Then why do you want my attention?” Cheshire asked.
Rabbit sighed ” Because we want to talk about mundane things with you too” he said.
Cheshire rolled his eyes. ” What mundane things do you want to talk about with me?” he asked finally paying his full attention to them and his long forgotten lunch.
" Like I don’t know-” Yang looked at Rabbit as if to ask for help before Rabbit took over the conversation ” Like, do you maybe have a crush on someone?” he asked hinting at Lily hoping that Cheshire would reveal his feelings and make their job easier.
Cheshire frowned ” No I don’t” he answered. He sighed before he too asked them the same question ” Do you have a crush on someone then? Is that why you are bothering me?” he asked. Rabbit shook his head violently while Yang shrugged his shoulders ” We don’t have anyone to have a crush on” he said.
Cheshire couldn’t believe that his friends just ruined his observation on Lily because they wanted to talk about these shitty topics. He looked towards where Lily is sitting again to find it empty. He gritted his teeth in annoyance and focused back on his lunch.
Cheshire didn’t see Lily until the class started after that.
She looked at him being social with someone she doesn’t recognize.
" Don’t forget to call me when you are done with school Lily!” the girl said upbeat ” Okay Orange, go now, you are making me shy” Lily said calmly.
The girl waved her hand alluringly before her eyes found Cheshire. She sent her a warning gaze and exited the classroom in seconds after that.
Cheshire locked her jaw.
How dare she look at her like that?
What was her problem?
She felt her eye twitch.
How dare her?
Is it because she is jealous?
Jealous of what?
Cheshire asked herself.
What could she be jealous of?
Her eyes landed on Lily again. He was looking at her but as soon as their gazes crashed his averted down. Which made Cheshire feel a knot on her throat.
Does this freak like me? She asked herself.
No way. I would never be with him and I would never lust over him. I hate him. I hate people like him. They need to be sacrificed to the demon in the forest because they are trying to be someone they are not.
She licked her upper teeth and looked down on her notebook again to distract herself from Lily and her hatred towards him.
Lily is confused.
He thought Cheshire liked him from the way he was gazing at him for the last week.
Maybe he is not interested in boys that are feminine? But Lily does not want to be feminine at all. It was his mother that force him to be.
Should Lily show Cheshire that? Wait before doing any of that shouldn’t he think and be sure about his feelings for Cheshire first?
Does he like him at all? It was obvious that Cheshire is somewhat interested in him. But he can’t get into a relationship without him being interested in the first place.
He sighed, Orange and Lemon told him to make sure of his feelings first before approaching Cheshire to form some kind of relationship. How can someone be sure of their feelings though?
It’s so hard to do that. Shouldn’t he interact with Cheshire to understand his feelings in the first place?
He can’t be sure of his feelings without spending time with Cheshire even if it’s just as friends.
He almost pulled at his own hair with that thought.
Why are relationships so hard? He knows he has some issues that makes it harder but still shouldn’t these things be easier?
How can others form relationships so easily?
His thoughts were interrupted by a throat clearing which led him to look up and see that the teacher is already here. Even the sight of the ugly man making his thoughts disappear.
