Chapter 1

MIA

I got ready for work,My first day of work actually. Pretty much nervous for multiple reasons, the job,the people, but worst of all the fact that I was going to be working under a man who was known to be terrifying. I checked my appearance in the mirror one last time, professional, yet simple. I took a deep breath. “Here we go,” I mumbled to yourself before exiting my apartment and got into a taxi.

As the taxi approached the tall building with a sign that read ‘KADEN CORP ’ on top,my heart began racing. I felt nervous, but took a deep breath to calm myself. I quickly exited the taxi and walked into the building, immediately greeted by the receptionist. ‘

“Hi and welcome! How can I help you?” The receptionist greeted, giving me a warm smile.

“I’m here for my first day of work.”

The receptionist nodded and asked for my name,to which I replied. She then picked up her phone, dialed, and told someone I was here. She then hung up and turned back to m.

"The boss is ready for you in his office.” She said.

“Oh, okay…” You replied, nodding your head. I swallowed a lump in my throat and headed to the elevator, nervously pushing the button for the top floor.

The elevator seemed to take forever to reach the top floor, the anticipation was making me feel nervous. Finally, the elevator dinged, signaling me I  had arrived.

The doors opened to reveal a long hallway. I took a deep breath, steeling my nerves. As I walked down the hallway,I couldn’t help but notice how modern and minimalist the office was. It was clearly expensive.

Soon,I arrived at a large mahogany door at the end of the hallway, with a gold name plate reading, ‘Boss’.

"Mia don't screw this up." I mutter to myself.

I took a moment to compose yourself, then raised a shaky hand and knocked on the door.

I heard a deep, masculine voice from inside. “Come in.”

Firmly pushed open the door and stepped into the office. The office was huge, with large windows overlooking the city. Instead,I met with the sight of him leaning against the desk, his sleeves rolled up to his elbows and his expression stern. He was on a call, and from the tone of his voice it seemed to be about a major deal or business merge.

He did hear me enter, but after a moment he looked up. He paused in his conversation, his eyes landed on me.

Holy shit!

He seemed to be in his mid thirties, a bit older than me. He has dark hair, almost black, that’s combed back from his forehead. His piercing eyes are a dark brown and give off an intense, intimidating presence. His business suit is tailored to perfectly fit his body, accentuating his muscular physique. He looks like someone who knows his worth, strong and dominant.

Oh his damn fine.

As I closed the door,he continued his conversation, not quite ending it, merely pausing it.

He looked at me up and down, his intense gaze making me feel a bit smaller. His eyes lingered on my figure for a moment, before returning to my eyes. He seemed to be sizing me up.

"Mr.Harris." spoke with respect.

He nodded his head in greeting, his expression remaining stoic.

“You’re the new secretary, I presume?”

His deep voice echoed in the room, his gaze still on me.

"Yes Sir,I am Mia Harper and I'd like to say thank you once more for hiring me." My voice confident.

He smirked slightly, a corner of his mouth lifting up in a subtle smirk.

“Right, Mia, correct? You graduated top of your class.”

He looked down at his desk, sorting through some paperwork, his eyes still lingering on me.

"Yes Sir." I reply.

He finished sorting through his paperwork and looked back at me, his smirk still present. He leaned against his desk and crossed his arms, his eyes roaming over me

“I’ve seen your resume and I must say, I was impressed. You graduated top of your class, very impressive.”

He paused for a moment, his gaze flickering over me.

“Though, I have one question for you, Miss Harper.”

My confusion hitting me as he eyed me.

"Yes Sir?" I reply with curiosity.

He stepped away from the desk and began to walk around me,his eyes scanning over my figure.

“Tell me… why would someone with your qualifications want to be a secretary? Surely there are more… prestigious job offers out there.”

I wanted to a nervous breakdown as I didn't even know what to answer him.

"I don't quite follow." I say with a shaky voice.

He continues pacing around me, his gaze still roaming me.

“Let's be honest here, Miss Harper, you're clearly a smart woman with a lot of potential, but a mere secretary job seems like a waste of your skills.”

He paused in front of me,his gaze locking with yours.

“I get numerous applications from top students from the best universities all the time. Why would someone like you, top of your class, take a job beneath their potential?”

The lump in my throat hardened,I wasn't sure what to answer him. Maybe it was beacuse,he made feel scared or unwanted or maybe he didn't want me at all.

He leaned back against his desk, his arms crossed over his chest again. His gaze was now focused solely on me,his eyes narrowing slightly.

“It seems you still haven't given me an answer, Miss Harper,” his voice was calm, but it held a hint of authority.

“And quite frankly, I'm beginning to think you're not the right candidate for this job.”His words stung me.

I couldn't find the right words at all. Then out of the sudden blue he left me speechless.

His expression darkened, all traces of his previous calm demeanor slipping away. His gaze hardened as he pushed himself off the desk, standing straight.

“I’ve given you ample chance to answer my question, but you have failed to give me a satisfactory answer.”

He took a step towards me,his voice taking on an edge.

“You’re not the right candidate for this job. Leave.”

His words made me freeze in place. Was I not really acceptable? I place my hand over my chest.

After what I have been through? I didn't want to go back to the life I was treated differently and abused.

With no hesitation I got up,the tears wanting to flow over my eyes. I clench my fists and spoke.

"Please! I need this job,I need to prove to myself I don't need a man to take care of me..." I sob and continued. "So please I will do anything."

The boss suddenly in front of me, his gaze still cold and stern. He didn't show any hint of sympathy at my plea.

“You want this job, Miss Harper? Are you willing to do anything for it?”

His intense gaze bore into me,his voice leaving no room for uncertainty. He then uttered a single command towards me.

“Get on your knees.”

I blink. I was taken aback by his demand.

“Get on your knees.”

He repeated the command, his gaze still fixed on me,waiting for my response. The serious and unemotional look on his face made it clear he was not asking you. He was telling you.

My mind was racing, clearly making my tears vanish with what Kaden requested me to do.

The sound of a belt being unbuckled echoed in the room. I widen my eyes as I  continued to look down, nervous and unsure of what was about to happen.

Kaden stood in front of me,his belt unbuckled. He leaned down slightly, his voice a low, commanding tone.

“Look at me.”

His eyes locked with mine, his gaze intense and possessive.

Once I looked up,meeting the Kadens gaze. His expression was stern and dominant, his eyes holding a hint of satisfaction. He continued to hold my gaze, his hand toying with the belt loose.

"Now... be a good girl and do as I say.” he ordered.
