Prologue – Till Time Brings Us Back
The dream comes again.
It always begins the same way—a pair of hands reaching out, fingers trembling, desperate to hold on. A whisper, soft as the wind, calls a name that feels familiar yet unreachable. And then, the fall.
Darkness swallows everything.
She wakes up with a sharp gasp, her breath shallow, hands clutching at the sheets as if trying to hold onto something—someone—who isn’t there. The dim glow of the bedside clock flickers at 3:07 AM, the same time she wakes up every night.
A name lingers on the tip of her tongue, a name she should know, but it slips away like sand through her fingers.
Her heartbeat is a frantic drum against her ribs as she sits up, pressing her palm to her chest in a vain attempt to calm the aching emptiness inside her. It isn’t just a dream. It never is.
Because even in waking, she feels it.
A love lost. A promise left unfulfilled.
She swings her legs over the edge of the bed, walking to the window. Outside, the city glows—cars passing, neon lights flickering, life moving forward. Yet she feels stuck, as if time itself refuses to let her go.
The dreams started years ago. At first, they were nothing more than fleeting images—a glimpse of unfamiliar places, whispered words she couldn’t understand. But as time passed, they became more vivid, more real.
She remembers running through grand palace halls, her silk dress flowing behind her. She remembers standing in the middle of a battlefield, her fingers stained with blood that wasn’t hers. She remembers ink-stained letters, hidden in the folds of a corset, and the sound of an old clock ticking as she waited for someone who never came.
Different lives. Different times.
But always the same feeling.
A desperate longing.
A love that was meant to be, yet never could.
She leans her forehead against the cold glass, exhaling shakily. Maybe she’s going insane, clinging to nothing but fragments of dreams. Maybe it’s all in her head.
Or maybe… just maybe…
It’s the past, trying to remind her of something she’s long forgotten.
And soon, she will remember everything.
To be continued…
