Prologue

Albulah was in her new private place inside of the temple. She was setting up her equipment the king had given her. She wasn’t paying much attention to what was going on around her. “Hi!” a voice squeaked behind her.

“Hi,” she responded when she turned and saw a little male standing in the doorway. She knew it had to be her beloved sister’s little son. He looked just like her. She was unsure if she could talk to him or telling him she was his aunt. She hadn’t seen his father yet.

Suddenly, King Lukah showed up at the door. “Mahrahk this is Albulah. She is your father’s personal healer.” King Lukah had said. Albulah took that as she was not to speak to him about who she was.

“Can see pay wit me?” He said as his eyes went wide just like her sister, Shenuah’s, used to when she was talked to by the king.

“Maybe later. It seems she is trying to get all setup. Come to the dining hall when you are done, Albulah. It should be meal time by then.” He said as he dipped his head to Albulah.

As soon as the king and young prince were out of sight, Albulah broke down and started crying. After a while, a large but young male came in. “What are you doing here?” He said with anger that scared Albulah.

“Your father emplored me to be your healer.” Albulah said as she looked up at the male.

“I don’t want a healer. I don’t want you.” He said as he attempted to turn away. “Had you been here, she would still be here. It is your fault and that little brat’s fault.”

“How dare you? I loved my sister. You’re the one who mated with her. You’re the reason she died. How dare you blame that innocent child? How could you do that, he is just a child? He doesn’t know any better. He never asked for his mother to die,” Albulah said, losing her temper. That little male was a part of her sister. He was her kin, her nephew.

“It doesn’t matter now, does it? He would be better off if my father would have claimed him. I can’t even stand the idea of meeting him.”

“You never even met your own son,” Albulah said as the male turned and looked at her with tears in his eyes.

“No. I want to, but I am scared. What if he hates me?”

“You’re my father? Wow, you’re huge? Will you pay wit me pwease?” Mahrahk said from the doorway. His eyes were huge.

“No.” The male said.

“Hey Mahrahk I will play with you. Or would you like me to tell you another story?” A young male said as he looked at the older male with hatred in his eyes.

“Go away.”

“Jishuah you are a horrible male.” The younger male said.

“Shut up and go away, Jahcuah.” Jishuah had said. “You will stay away from me and him.” Jishuah said as he turned on Albulah.

Albulah didn’t understand what happened to her friend. He use to be so sweet and cared for everyone around him. His attitude change broke her heart. If this is what happens when a mate dies, she was glad she would never have a mate. Deciding to lie down on the bed, she fell asleep and dreamed of Shenuah. In her dream, Shenuah was watching over her son.

Only Shenuah was still dead, but her spirit never left her son’s side. “Care for my son… My baby.” Shenuah said as she looked over her shoulder and looked right into Albulah’s eyes.

“How? Jishuah has ordered me to stay away from him.” Albulah replied. But before Shenuah would respond, the dream faded.
