Chapter 1
THE GIRL WHO SMILED ALONE
Lauren had a smile that could light up the darkest room—soft, kind, and effortless. Her big, expressive eyes held stories no one had ever heard, secrets no one had dared to ask about. People were drawn to her warmth; she had friends who laughed at her jokes, admired her kindness, and stood by her side. Yet, beneath the surface, she was utterly alone.
She carried a past that clung to her like a shadow, whispering doubts and fears into her heart. No matter how many voices surrounded her, none could drown out the silence within. She had forgotten what it felt like to truly belong, to speak without hesitation, to trust without fear.
Conversations felt like walking through a minefield—one wrong step, and she’d retreat into herself again. Words got stuck in her throat, the fear of judgment tightening around her like invisible chains. She wanted to connect, to let someone in, but the ghosts of yesterday held her back.
And so, she smiled. Always smiling, always hiding. Because sometimes, a smile is the best disguise for a lonely heart.
Would she run, or would she finally face the past that had kept her prisoner for so long. Or will there be any prince Charming who will turn her loneliness into happiness........
