Chapter 1
Title: The Road Back Home
The bus rattled as it rolled over the uneven country road, the city skyline fading into the distance behind him. Amir slumped in his seat, staring at the passing fields, a world away from the life he had imagined. At twenty-three, he had dreamed of building something in the city—his own business, a steady career, a future filled with success. But after years of struggling through college, juggling odd jobs, and watching his bank account drain, he had finally hit a dead end.
Failure. That was the only word ringing in his mind. He had failed to finish college, failed to make money, and now, with no other option, he was returning to the village he once couldn’t wait to leave.
His mother had sounded relieved on the phone when he told her he was coming back. His father, as always, had remained silent. Amir knew what awaited him—pitying glances from neighbors, old friends who had moved on, and the weight of expectations he could no longer meet.
As the bus pulled into the small station near his village, he took a deep breath. Maybe this was just another beginning. Or maybe it was the final proof that he wasn’t meant for something greater.
