Chapter 1

Max finds an old, leather-bound diary among the ruins of a mansion. The diary details a strange and inexplicable disappearance of an entire town, with no trace left behind. As Max reads, he becomes obsessed with unraveling the mystery of the vanished.

The moment Max opens the diary, a cloud of dust rises from its fragile pages. The ink, though faded, remains legible, as if the words were waiting for someone to find them. The first few entries are ordinary—daily accounts of life in the forgotten town of Ravenshade. Mentions of bustling markets, children playing near the river, and the steady rhythm of small-town life. But as he flips further, the tone shifts. The writer, a young girl named Evelyn, begins to describe eerie occurrences: shadows moving where none should be, whispers in the wind, and a creeping sense of unease that settled over the town like a storm about to break.

Max's fingers tremble as he turns the pages. The entries grow more desperate, Evelyn's words rushed and frantic. She speaks of people vanishing in the night, their homes left untouched, meals still warm on their tables. At first, the town dismisses the disappearances as simple misfortunes—runaways, accidents—but soon, entire families are wiped from existence, their names erased from memory. "No one remembers them," Evelyn writes. "As if they were never here at all. But I remember. And I think whatever is taking them is coming for me next."

Determined to find the truth, Max begins researching Ravenshade. But to his horror, he finds no records of its existence—no maps, no documents, not even a mention in historical archives. It is as if the town was never there. Doubt creeps into his mind. How could an entire town simply vanish? How could Evelyn's diary be the only evidence it ever existed? The more he digs, the more he feels something watching him, something stirring in the silence. And then, strange things begin happening. The air around him shifts unpredictably, objects move from where he last placed them, and at night, he hears whispers, faint but insistent, calling his name.

One night, as Max studies the diary under the dim glow of his desk lamp, a sudden chill sweeps through his room. The pages of the book flutter wildly, as if caught in an invisible wind. Then, the ink on the final entry begins to bleed, the letters twisting and reforming before his eyes. A new message appears, fresh and urgent: "If you can read this, it's not too late. Find me before I disappear too." Max's breath catches in his throat. The date on the entry isn't from decades ago. It's today.

Panic grips him. If Evelyn is still out there—trapped somewhere between existence and oblivion—then he is now part of the mystery. The diary was never just a relic of the past; it was a message meant for him. He has no choice. He has to follow the clues Evelyn left behind. But as he prepares to leave, something shifts in the room—a shadow deeper than the darkness itself. A voice, hollow and distant, whispers from the corner. "You shouldn't have read the diary."

Max turns, his heart hammering in his chest, but there is nothing there. Only the stillness of the night, the book lying open before him, and the knowledge that he has already crossed a line he can never step back from. The vanished are calling, and now, Max must decide whether he will follow their whispers or risk becoming one of them.

Angela: A good story so far. I like Amora's character and the ideas such as, Aiden taken power over the pack and stripping Amora of her title.
