Chapter 1

As I look over the report in front of me, my brother enters the room. I scribble something on the report then look up at him.

"Aus' what are you doing? " he asks.

"Looking at how the stocks costs have risen. Did you need something? " I reply.

"Well me and America were talking and we figured since you turn nineteen in about a month, that it's time you have a selection of your own... " he trails off.

"No. You know how I feel about these things and you know I don't want to do anything that could interfere with my work schedule. I'm not doing it, sorry. " I shake my head. Maxon sighs and leaves the room.

A little while after he leaves the room, I hear a soft knock at my door. I look up and see America. She gives me a soft smile before walking over and sitting in the chair in front of my desk.

"Hey, you okay? " she asks, as I look down at the papers again.

"If you came here to try to talk me into this selection, you can think again because I'm not doing it. " I say before she explain why she came here.

"Actually, I didn't come here to talk about that, or try to talk you into it. I came here to tell you that if I hadn't entered the selection, I never would have met your brother. I am just trying to say is that I think you should give this some thought. "

"Are you done? " I ask and she nods. "Then you can leave. " I say and look back at the papers. She gets up and leaves shutting the door behind her.

An hour later, my neice, Eadlyn, comes walking over to me.

"Hey Eady, what are you doing in here. Shouldn't you be down stairs eating dinner with your parents and brother? " I say, picking her up and setting her on my lap.

"You never came down so I wanted to see if you were okay. " she replied. Let me tell you this, for a two year old little girl, she is an impressively fast learner.

"Well, I was actually just about to come down. So how about we go down together? " I say and she nods happily. I stand up, pick her up, and walk down stairs.
