1- The Beginning

Jade’s POV

“Come on Brianna, hurry up!” I said, as we raced through the halls of our packhouse. I was always the strongest of all the girls in the pack, since my father trained me himself for the first thirteen years of my life. But ever since he was ambushed on one of his explorations by the River pack, he’s been in a coma. Now I’ve trained with the other girls and my uncle David.

That was almost five years ago, now I’m the Alpha of my pack and my uncle David is still the Beta. Once he retires, Brianna, my best friend and adviser, will be the new Beta.

“Jade, slow down you know you’re faster than me. Didn’t you get anything from your mother other than your attractiveness?” Panted Brianna, catching up to me.

“Alpha,” called one of the warriors in the pack, Ashton, “one of our patrols ran into some rogues near the town.”

“I’ll deal with that matter soon, first, I need to change into formal attire.” I said before turning to leave the hall to go to my room.

“Alpha, there will also be a meeting of Alpha’s and Beta’s, which your uncle has agreed to already.” Ashton told me, and by then my Alpha blood had started to boil.

“HE DID WHAT!” I yelled, not controlling my temper anymore.

“He didn’t run it by you yet?” Ashton asked, surprised.

“Of course he didn’t, why would he? He’s the oldest but I’m still the Alpha. I’m going to have a word with him.” I said, whisking away to my room.

I walked into my deep blue and gold room, with my beautiful lilac purple sofas and bed. I walked into my walk-in closet.

“Ughh, what am I supposed to wear.” I whispered, annoyed. I couldn’t think of an outfit to wear.

“Jade why don’t you wear the you got on your last birthday? The gold and red one.” Called my wolf, Winter, she’s the one in charge of choosing my outfits.

I grabbed the gold dress with red intricate details. Once I had dressed in the golden dress, I went to the bathroom to do my hair and makeup. I curled my hair and did my makeup perfectly.

I grabbed my black and gold high heels from my closet, slid them on, and hurried out of my room. As I crossed the packhouse to my uncle’s room, I saw some of the slaves gossiping, once they saw me they bowed formally, and hurried back to their work.

When I reached my uncle’s door, I knocked twice, and he opened the door, staring at me.

“May I come in?” I said, rolling my eyes.

“Oh, yes, of course.” He said, sounding dumbfounded, “Alpha” he added, as he realized he forgot to address me formally.

Once I was inside his room, he shut the door, and turned to me.

“What do you need Alpha?” He asked

“What do I need!? I need you to run things by me before you agree to them!” I shouted, trying hard to control my temper.

“What do you mean Jade?” He asked, looking completely dumbfounded.

“Don’t play dumb, David, you know what I’m talking about!” I raised my voice, almost yelling, starting to get pissed off with him.

“Alpha, calm down or you’ll worry everyone.” He whispered, giving me the look an adult would give a little kid when they’ve done something terrible.

“Okay, Alpha, I’m sorry that I didn’t talk to you before accepting the letter of the meeting, but we needed to go to this meet. This meeting is for all of us to talk about the rogue attacks on everyone of the packs.” He told me, trying to hide his discomfort.

“Don’t do it again, David. There will be consequences next time.” I said, giving him a death glare.

“Yes Alpha.” He said, bowing

I turned away from him, and headed toward the door, opened it and hurried out. As I walked back to my room, I saw a note on my door. It read Dear Jade I’ve gone to visit one if my friends in the Airflame pack, if you need me send someone to get me. And don’t forget you can always call me if you just want to talk. Best regards, Brianna.

Well, looks like I’m on my own now other than my sister, who I could talk to but then again, she won’t stop talking once someone talks to her. I’ll probably just deal with all the Alpha stuff anyways. Being Alpha doesn’t give much free time.

I opened my door, stepped inside, closed the door as quietly as I could, then went to check myself in the bathroom. My dress was still in pristine condition, but my makeup needed to be redone, so did my hair.

I sighed “looks like I need to redo it all.” I quickly redid my hair and makeup, making it spotless.

When I was done everything, I opened my door and rushed outside to find my uncle again. I needed to figure out what time it was at, and that, included me finding my uncle.

When I found him at the breakfast bar, eating some pancakes, it reminded me of my own hunger. I pulled the barstool out and sat down. I ordered myself some french toast, and started talking to him.

“So what time is it at” I asked.

“It’s at eight, so you have some time to get ready.” He told me, shifting self-consciously.

“Okay, I’m going to eat then go to the store to buy some new clothes, makeup and some shoes. I should be back by seven.” I said, finishing my french toast.

I stood up and tucked in the barstool I was sitting on, as I headed for the door my wolf started talking about finding a mate or something before I blocked her out. I wasn’t worried about finding a mate while I still needed to be able to shift into my wolf. Once I’m eighteen then I’ll be able to shift into full were.

I went up to my room to grab my keys to my bike, but when I walked into my room I decided I would get clean and make myself as beautiful as possible.
