The royal court also share Maithili's reluctance, especially the king's many wives and queens. Despite their fear for her safety, he insists that Maithili be given away in marriage. Imagine the shock of the royal court when Maithili announces that she will agree to this scandalous union. "It is not a sacrifice, but a way to secure peace," she assures them. But as she prepares for her upcoming marriage, her family isn't sure whether to feel proud of her courage or fearful of what lies ahead. At the time of this critique only two chapters are available of author Avonlea's intriguing fairy tale, but I hope she continues with it. The world of royal politics, high stakes, and deep family bonds immediately pulls you into the story. My favorite character was Maithili of course and her selfless way of sacrificing herself for the sake of the kingdom. You can't but admire her actions, though I agree with the queens - that it might be a trap. At any rate this delicious fairy tale promises an emotional story to the very end."
