Chapter 1

I take a sip of my coffee while juggling the phone pressed against my ear and the handbag dangling from my elbow. I’m so fricking late!

“Nathan is gonna be so pissed if you aren’t here in five minutes, Grace!” Julie, my colleague/work-friend, panics from the other end. “You know his stuck-up ass is always looking for ways to get you.”

And his stuck-up ass will always keep looking. Ha!

“I’m right there. I’m entering the elevator.” I am not. I am still power-walking through the maze of buildings in the city’s cyber park. “Just make sure to review the presentation I mailed you last night. I want it perfect.” With that, I hang up.

I let out a small sigh as the sight of my company’s big logo comes into view.

As I rush through the main entrance, I collide into a hard body. Umph! My coffee spills on the other person.

“Fuck! I’m sorry-“ I stop when I see who I ran into.

“And good morning to you too, Grace,” Nathan grits out, his dark eyes narrowing on me. He looks at me as though just the sight of me ruined his entire day.

Out of all the people, it has to be Nathan Fucking Anderson!

“Fuck! Nathan!” I blurt out nervously. Fuck! Immediately I compose myself, which is a hard feat in itself when his gaze is burning holes through my head. “I-I mean, are you alright? Sorry, I was in a rush.”

His eyes size me up and down as his tall stature overshadows my small, stubby one.

I look at his white shirt which is now stained. “I’ll take your shirt to the cleaners,” I offer, stepping forward to inspect it. I feel the curious eyes of others passing by.

“Yeah, why don’t you just take it off right now?!” Nathan snips, making me immediately step back.

He lets out a sigh, his gaze losing its intensity. “Leave it.”

I nod and when he says nothing I sidestep him to continue on my way. Well, there is nothing else to say. I already apologized.

“And Grace,” he calls out from behind, “no need to rush now and ruin some other guy’s shirt too.” He gestures at his stained shirt. “You already bought yourself some time,” he taunts.

God, my boss is such a bastard!
