The Elevator Ritual

“Katie, look at this” said Alice, showing her laptop to Katie “Do you remember I told you about the Elevator Ritual?” asked Alice.

Katie put down her phone and the and looked at the laptop. “Yes, I know, but you didn’t actually explain it” said Katie.

Alice took back the laptop and said “The Elevator game is a ‘paranormal ritual’ that allows one, to go to another dimension. This game started when Katie John went missing in 2014. It originated in South Korea and Japan. They say that if you follow the steps rightly, you will go to a new world, but if you don’t, you might face unsaid consequences, or even worse.”

Katie sighed, put down her phone, looked at Alice, and said, “Alice, you do know it’s just an urban legend, like many others.”

Alice smirked. “That’s what they all say. Until they try it.”

Katie raised an eyebrow. “Wait… you’re not suggesting—”

Alice shut the laptop and grinned. “I already found a building that’s perfect for the game. It has ten floors, and the elevator is open 24/7.”

Katie’s stomach twisted. “You’re joking, right?”

Alice shook her head. “Come on! If it’s fake, there’s nothing to worry about, right?”

Katie hesitated. A part of her wanted to refuse, but curiosity gnawed at her. What if it was real?

Against her better judgment, she sighed. “Fine. But if nothing happens, you owe me a coffee.”

Alice grinned. “Deal.”

“Ok, so, how do we play it” asked Katie

“Here you go, I have the rules here” said Alice, showing her the laptop

1.’Enter the elevator alone in a building with at least 10 floors.

2.Press the button for the 4th floor and wait for it to reach that floor.

3.When you reach the 4th floor, press the button for the 2nd floor.

4.After reaching the 2nd floor, press the button for the 6th floor.

5.When you reach the 6th floor, press the button for the 2nd floor again.

6.After reaching the 2nd floor again, press the button for the 10th floor.

7.On the 10th floor, press the button for the 5th floor but do not exit the elevator.

8.When the elevator reaches the 5th floor, a woman may enter. Do not speak to her, and do not look at her. If you look at her then you will be taken with her, to Hell

9.If you reach the 10th floor again, and the elevator ascends instead of descending, it means you are in the Other World. If the elevator descends, immediately exit.

10.To return to the normal world, repeat the process in reverse order: 5 → 10 → 2 → 6 → 2 → 4 → 1.

“Wow!!, that’s a lot of rules, are you really sure about this” asked Katie, thinking once again about her decision. “Uggghhh, Are you really asking me this after we’ve fixed our deal, this is not fair Kat” said Alice, groaning.

“Ok, ok chill, it was just a joke, lets do this” said Katie, determined.
