Captivating
"This is a wonderful book. The story of Humaira and her struggles captivated me. And I was transported to Nigeria, a country I have never visited and know little about. Humaira is such a likeable character you can't help rooting for her as she tries to overcome the many obstacles in her way. There is some great storytelling here, but there are also some insightful observations about gender and social status in Nigeria. I felt I was getting an insider's view of the challenges faced by Nigerian - specifically Nigerian Muslim - women. Occasionally, the writing is a little repetitious, but it's nothing a light edit wouldn't fix. There's a real spark to this book and I'm looking forward to seeing how the story develops."
