Her world shattered

In the small hostel room, Nisha said to her friend,

"Yaar, I don’t know why, but I’m feeling really strange today…"

At that moment, she had no idea —

that in just a few hours, her entire world was about to turn upside down.

That evening, she received a phone call.

It was her aunt on the other side. Her voice was trembling —

"Nisha… your mom…"

And that was it.

The sentence stopped there.

The silence said more than the words ever could.

Her mom was gone.

Nisha froze.

It felt like the whole world had stopped.

She walked quietly through the hostel corridor, packed her bag in silence…

and left for Banaras — to the place where only her mother’s memories remained.

After the funeral rituals, when everyone had left and the house stood cold and empty,

the neighbor aunt handed Nisha an old envelope.

"Your mother told me to give you this after she was gone," she said, tears in her eyes.

Nisha’s hands were shaking. She slowly opened the envelope…

"My dearest Nisha,"

"I had cancer. Maybe when you're reading this letter, I'm no longer in this world.

I couldn’t tell you earlier — you were already shattered after your father’s death.

I was scared that if I said this too, you wouldn’t be able to handle it.

But dear, I’m always with you — at every step."

"I didn’t have much, but whatever I had, I’ve left it for you — your hostel fees, books, some daily expenses.

I also spoke to my old friend Rupa in Mumbai. Her address is written below. Go to her. She will take care of you.

Trust her."

"This is your last year of school. Never give up.

Keep fighting life.

Forgive me for not being by your side.

But dear… I’m always with you. Always."

"Your Mom."

The letter was in her hands,

but it felt like rain was pouring from her eyes — or maybe, they were just tears.

She looked up at the sky with a faint smile and said mom...
