PROLOGUE

The first time Kiara wore red, it was for love.

The second time, it was for war.

The sindoor weighed heavier than the blood on her hands. The crimson fabric clung to her like a shroud, suffocating, binding, sealing her fate with every whispered blessing that fell upon deaf ears. She stood amidst the sacred fire, but the only flames that mattered were the ones burning in her chest—the inferno of grief, betrayal, and vengeance.

Just 47 hours ago, her world had been whole.

Forty-seven hours since she had felt the warmth of his touch, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat beneath her fingers. A love that had promised forever—shattered in a single gunshot. Blood had pooled beneath his lifeless body, his lips parting to whisper her name one last time. And standing in the shadows, untouched by guilt or mercy, was the man she now called her husband.

Siddharth.

A name that had once meant nothing to her, now etched into her very existence like a curse. The king of the underworld, ruthless and unchallenged, the devil who orchestrated deaths like they were mere transactions. He took what he wanted, erased what he didn’t need, and somewhere in the midst of his empire of blood and power, Kiara had lost everything.

So she had done the unthinkable.

She had walked into the lion’s den, her heart a graveyard, her soul a storm, and asked him to marry her.

The hall had fallen into stunned silence. Gasps had rung out like echoes of disbelief. The great Siddharth, bound by law, by a vow, by a woman who hated him? It had been madness, but she had seen the flicker in his eyes. Amusement. Curiosity. And then something darker.

Siddharth had agreed.

And now, here they stood.

The wedding mandap was alight with tradition, the air thick with the scent of roses and sandalwood, yet there was no sanctity in this union. Only war.

Kiara’s heart pounded as she turned to face him, her hands clenched at her sides. The man before her was dressed in an ivory sherwani embroidered with gold, his dark eyes unreadable, his jaw set in cold determination. A king dressed for his coronation, unaware that the throne beneath him had already begun to crumble.

She let the silence stretch, let the weight of the moment settle over the stunned audience before she spoke. And when she did, her voice cut through the air like a blade.

“You think you’ve won, don’t you?”

The murmurs around them stilled. Siddharth arched a brow, but Kiara didn’t stop.

“You think by marrying me, you’ve claimed me. That I belong to you now.” She laughed, a hollow, broken sound. “But listen to me, Siddharth, and listen well.”

She stepped forward, lifting her chin, her voice rising with each word. “I will destroy you. I will make you the most powerless man in this world. The great Siddharth, who holds the world in his grip, will beg for the one thing he loves the most.” Her eyes burned into his, unwavering. “And he will lose it. Just like I lost everything.”

Gasps rippled through the crowd. Relatives shifted uncomfortably, whispers buzzing like restless bees. The priest faltered, looking between them, unsure whether to proceed.

Siddharth, however, simply watched her. Unmoving. Unfazed. And then, before she could react, his hand shot out, gripping hers in a vice-like hold.

A collective gasp rang through the hall.

Kiara struggled, but his grip only tightened. His lips curled into a slow, dangerous smirk as he pulled her closer.

“You think you have a choice?” His voice was low, edged with menace. “You think your hatred matters?”

Without another word, he dragged her forward, stepping onto the sacred path around the fire.

The pheras had begun.

The first circle, his voice deep and unwavering— "From this moment, you are mine. No one else will ever touch you, no man will ever look at you the way I do. Not even death can claim you without my permission."

The second— "You will be my wife in every sense. Your body, your soul, your entire existence belongs to me. Your every breath will carry my name."

The third— "If you ever try to leave, I will burn down the world to bring you back. There is no escape from me, Kiara. Not in this life, not in the next."

Kiara’s breath shuddered, rage coiling in her veins like a beast. She refused to be silent.

And so, as Siddharth reached for her again, she twisted free, stepping ahead of him—leading the way into the final four pheras.

The fourth, her voice like steel— "Your obsession with me will be your destruction, Siddharth. You think you own me? No. I will make sure you drown in the very depths of this madness."

The fifth— "One day, you will be the one begging. You will watch your world crumble, and it will be by my hands."

The sixth— "You will love me, Siddharth. And that love will be your curse. Because I will never be yours. And you? You will never escape the hell of wanting me."

The seventh— "And in the end, you will be the one to kill me. Just like you killed the man I loved."

Silence crashed over them like a tidal wave. The flames between them flickered, a witness to a war that had only just begun.

Siddharth said nothing, his face unreadable, but Kiara saw the flicker in his eyes—something that hadn’t been there before. Not amusement. Not anger.

Something more dangerous.

Possession.

And then, without hesitation, he reached out, tilting her chin up.

A hushed gasp swept through the crowd as Siddharth leaned in, his lips barely grazing her ear.

"You should’ve killed me when you had the chance, little swan."

And with that, he pressed the sindoor into her hairline, sealing their fate.

The wedding was complete.

The war had begun.

                       CHARACTERS

"He ruled with blood on his hands and fire in his veins, untamed and feared by the world. But she—she was his only weakness and his greatest power. For her, he would tear the world apart… and in her silence, fall to his knees. She was the storm that drove him mad, and the calm that tamed the beast."

"She was a girl broken beyond repair—unloved, betrayed, forced into the arms of the devil himself. She swore to destroy him, to burn his world like he burned hers. But somewhere between hate and hurt, she found the kind of love that scars deep. And when the time came… she'd rather die with him, than live without him."

"Two souls bound not by vows of love, but by a promise—to own her, to destroy him. Yet somewhere between ruin and resistance, he became her healing, and she became his peace. A love born not out of fairy tales, but from fire and fate."
